Tips for saving money this winter

Stop spaffing money on shite you don’t need. This is the main reason people don’t have any money, not the economy!

Have shorter showers or shower at the gym instead of at home.
Boil the kettle and keep the leftover hot water in a thermos flask so you can use it again for brews without using the kettle again.
Wear your clothes one more time before shoving them in the wash.
Don’t put the heating on timers coming on through the day when you’re at work, just put it on for one hour at a time when you’re in the house.
Don’t start putting the heating on until November and stop putting it on after February.
Wear a vest/t-shirt, long johns, decent thick socks, and put a blanket over you. Better still expose yourself to cold weather on things like walks more often, you’ll start to not feel the cold so much (basically you’ll stop being a nesh ****).
Humans have survived for hundreds of thousands of years without central heating, it’s not essential.

Buy individual ingredients and batch cook your meals, keeping them in the freezer for future days. Much less washing up to do this way n’all.
Don’t go out in your car unless you need to. If you live a few miles from work stop being so fucking lazy and walk or cycle there.
Better still get rid of that biggest waste of money in our lives parked outside your house full stop if you only really have it as a luxury. You’ll be amazed at how much extra money you have, how your clothes fit you better, how good you feel and how much more energy you have.

Turn everything off instead of leaving it on standby when you go to bed.
Heating off, leave the oven door open after using it.
Get a dog. Great for lying on you in the winter.
Get rid of the dog, no more dog food, vets bills etc. Save on shoe leather as you don't have to walk it.
Move to a warmer country.
Stop driving everywhere, walk, you get warmer.
Put more insulation in the roof.

I did an experiment , used a torch for a month , no lights used , unplugged everything , even chargers once things were charged, they continue to use power if not unplugged, left the telly on standby mind , turned the heat on the shower to just above freezing , bracing but lovely after

Put in another reading a month later , dd dropped by ten quid

Spooky

Don’t pay your gas or electric bills , they can’t cut everyone off , total greed and profiteering
Not necessarily.

Around 30 energy companies have recently gone bust because most of them have low profit margins so the rising cost of gas has left many in deficit. If people start to not pay their bills, more will go under causing a greater general issue.

Avoid upgrading to a new phone at the end of your contract. Not seen any significant improvements to phones in years. Keep your current phone and move to sim only which is typically less than £10 a month for large amounts of data and unlimited calls.
