Title Chances potentially affected after tonight?

I've had all this from the United fans in work this morning 'ah, we're out of the Europa League so we'll definitely win the PL, you lot won win owt this year, all that money and won f*ck all, the FA cup doesn't count because it's a nothing cup'

Atheletic Bilbao played very well last night and no United fan can deny that.

And yeah, we weren't good enough last night, but we will win at home next Thursday and go through! We also have the advantage of Chelsea and United at home in the next few weeks - we need to stay positive and believe that finally, after all these years, our support through the hard times, is finally paying off.

tbh there isnt much chance of us winning the europa league, we will be too focused on winning the premier league and if we do get through we will come up against an fc twente, bilbao(possibly), valencia, alkmaar who are all very decent outfits amongst others who will want it more than us
Couldn't disagree with that in stronger terms.

I can certainly understand where the OP is coming from.

I don't understand why some of you lot have a problem with wanting the Rags to progress? If you believe we can go all the way then we can knock them out ourselves so it's irrelevant how well they do against other sides.

I wouldn't mind us getting the Rags in the semi finals and knocking them out there. They are already stretching their resources. The more games they play the more these resources will become stretched.

However, if they go out they will have vital rest periods before big games including the Derby. The Vinny injury last night serves as a timely reminder of the increased injury potential by playing in the Europa League.

Exactly -And unlike the RAGS we cannot afford any injuries

Agreed. In the event that it happens then we would be disadvantaged by the extra games and they would not. That seems obvious to me. As the premier league is a zillion times more important I'd be playing the second string in the Europa and give the fringe players some valuable playing time. That's what the squad is for. We need to minimise the risk of not being at full strength for the run-in.

That's why I think it would be a blessing in disguise for them to go through.

If we play as many games as them for the rest of the season we'll win the league and possibly the Europa due to the fact we've got a stronger squad.

If they go out they will have lesser chance of injuries and greater fitness levels for the run-in therefore it follows that their chances of winning the league will improve.

Why do people think that having extra games will affect our title chances?? The scum went all the way to the CL final last year and still had time in between to win the title....

Is our so called strong squad really that weak that some think an injury here and there will hurt us... We all think the worst case scenario's but until that scenario is put into practice who knows..Id like to think that the more games we play the better we get..

I agree that we can do both however I believe we would maximise our chances of winning the league if we made it our sole target.

Also, the Vinny injury last night serves as a timely reminder of the increased injury potential which comes with playing in the Europa League.

We have been at the top for most if not all of the season and we have had CL games and now EL games...and we are still top.. It is possible to do both cos its done us no harm up til now..
