title contending in Jan - £50m spend?

Lets see how we do with Kolarov and balotelli and boateng at full strength first.. i think that jo,rsc and Ade (shame but its his attitude thats his downfall) will be gone by next summer...and the replacement(s) will be our last big spend for a bit.

I think there might be three signings in the January window...

A replacement goalkeeper for the outgoing Given

A top forward to replace the outgoing RSC and Adebayor

Another young midfielder prospect to replace Logan in the squad

And there will be another half dozen fringe players departing.

Santa Cruz and Adebayor will leave IMO, and Torres to us, no matter what Liverpool's situation is.

Richards to go hopefully and maybe a back up keeper, a Doni/Given loan swap seems reasonable

There's a kid who I've been trying to keep an eye on at Lyon called Lacazette, who would be a good buy. He wouldn't demand first team football, but he's talented and would play the false nine role like Tevez does, which would help when we need like for like swaps.
Saw him in the U-19 Euros a few months back and was impressed with him the whole tournament, put a few in as well if I recall. Wouldn't cost more than £10m, but he's something for the future, who wouldn't moan, and would give us a way to rest Tevez without sacrificing our style of play.

Just a thought.

Ricster is our resident youth scout, perhaps he can shed some more light on him as, as I said, I only saw him in the U19 tourny and Lyon stick him on the bench but don't really bring him on.

Goalkeeper aside I cannot see anyone coming in other than because of the rare, top table players.

That could mean Torres - however he may have caused Mancini and the board to consider that now done and dusted in the summer conversations.

It might also be that Given sees a new contract for five years too tempting to refuse?

January though is not a time to buy in Mancini's eyes, as we saw last season.

i dont think he had an option last season

Speaking of kids actually, there was a Ghanaian lad who played for Twente up front last season who I can't seem to find the name of. He was fucking class, strong as an ox and clever on the turn. Reminded me a bit of Defoe. He'd be a nice buy

tbh if we are keeping up relatively well and its obvious we need a top quality striker, i doubt the sheikh would say no if mancini needed 20-25m for dzeko
