I applaud your skill of being able to type while simultaneously having your head up your arse.

Admittedly this country has alot of fuckin problems at the moment, but anyone that lives here would be first to tell u this.

You are deluded if you think your country is without its problems, if your country was so fuckin great and u wouldn't have a show like T.C.A.P in the first place you fuckin spak. As someone who works in the media trust me when i say, the motivation behind that show is nothing more than getting viewing figures. I don't want to start laying into your country however, because i think there are alot of good people there excluding yourself ofcourse.

For the record I think its safe to say that i too can walk down the street without fear of being molested.

As for your comments about New Orleans and poor ppl, i'm sorry but it shows you are nuthin more than a ****, that does not value other human life.

Matty does have a great viewpoint on this. But the family of the man who shot himself shouldn't've sued. If it had just been a police investigation he would probably have done the same. It wouldn't be right they sue the police.

As for the show. I watched it once. I'll admit it was just crash tv. I actually laughed at alot. Tho I do take it seriously what some people are like. And in no way would I want to make internet predators seem anythin but dangerous.

But I saw 1 man drive by when the person before him was gettin arrested and he still thought nothing of it and went in.
And one man claim he was there for a job.

They get arrested now and that is good. Perhaps TV is doing the research that the police are undermanned to do. But all in all they have their own ratings agenda.

It's a sad state of affairs.

You shouldn't assume for me, Knight. I haven't took the 'high road' on anything. I see Poco's point as it mirrored my own original concerns. Entertaintment and sensationalist or not, there were other things the series of programmes unwittingly highlighted. Such as 'Where is your child's computer?', 'Who are they talking to?', 'What are they up to when you're not around?', 'Where are they going?', 'Are you a parent that's more interested in your can/ tv/ drugs/ bf/gf/partner /chance for a bit of peace and quiet...?'

There ARE predators out there and I hate the thought of it. So, my original point, way back when, was that if this programmes helps parents be more concerned in who their child 'befriends' over the net, then its done some kind of service, in my eyes. I don't approve the showbizzy side of the TCAP format, but as a parent I look beyond that and would hope smarter parents do so too.

Fair enough Bigga. The fact is after the debaucle in Texas, To Catch a Predator closed down shop, settled out of court and left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. Especially the residents of Murphy (some who I know) who also didn't like the way their town was used to attract pedophiles coming from sometimes as far as 50 miles.

No one has really spoken for the residents of these communities who get to see their towns used as "bait" either.

Of course Pocomoke accused me of making this up and of me being English. So that is where we had our little differences. So the discussion spiraled out of control into total nonsense. That is what I meant Bigga, you didn't bother to partake when things went to shit if you will.

As far as Pocomoke's views, there're twisted in my opinion and they are there for you to read..........if you want, but I wouldn't bother
 
I am, somewhat, disappointed in Poco's response as it does a disservice to all the family she claims are from these isles as that makes them British and she's American by default of two Brits that left this country not long ago.

I know you're angry Poco, but you shouldn't rise to the bait. I'm pretty sure you're better than that.

Bigga I know it shouldn't come to insults, I don't like it and I know that as soon as a discussion goes to insults, its pointless.

My number one pet peeve is ugly amerians. I travelled a bit, I lived outside of my country for a couple of spells. I'm by no means a world traveller and I'm always open to learning more about other cultures/countries etc. I know how Americans are perceived and I've been around ugly Americans who reinforce the arrogant American stereotype......and it makes my blood boil. Perhaps I should be more tolerant of those who are intolerant... that's a tough pill for me to swallow.
 
Maybe the program did draw parents attention to their children and who they are interacting with on their PCs, however if in this day and age you're not fully aware of these kinds of issues already and taking measures to ensure your children's internet access is monitored and restricted then you've got far more serious issues than a p*ss poor program like To Catch a Predator is going to be able to assist you with.
 
I saw an episode of this the other night, and for me it raised a morally ambiguous question or two. There was a young woman of ninteeen posing as a girl of thirteen or fourteen, and it made me wonder about common perceptions.

Such as, I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid if a 15-year old girl was going out with a 16-year old boy, providing they were physically similar re. height and looks etc, and I doubt he'd become a social pariah if it were revealed they were sleeping together. In fact, someone at college recently had the trauma of having to oversee her 16-year old son and his 15-year old girlfriend have a termination of their child. No prosecution occurred.

But what about the other side of the coin - that 19-year old in the programme who looked no older than fifteen, for example. Now, as a 19-year old she is well within her rights to date whoever she pleases, but if she was seeing a big, hulking twenty-something, I'd be somewhat wary of his motives for seeing someone so young looking.
