To See Us Lift The League Cup Will Be A Dream Come True

What I find really interesting and what really was a genuine touch of class from us City fans is that from the moment the final whistle went and we lost the FA Cup to Wigan I have yet to hear, see or read a City fan that was bitter and held any animosity or grudge towards Wigan or their fans. We shrugged our shoulders, swallowed the proverbial humble pie and accepted the defeat with grace and dignity. I saw many blues wishing Wigan fans all the best on the way out and even later that night when we met them around London. Considering we went so long without any success it shows our great character that we can smile and not be spoilt by wanting to win everything in sight to make up for those barren years and empathise with how those Wigan supporters felt tasting success at that level for the first time. I kind of feel the same way about Sunderland but obviously hope it doesn't happen but if it does then I am sure they will be afforded the same courteous handshake.

It's going to be another great day with two great historical clubs, no bitterness, no ill feeling great just support for our own clubs and exactly what a cup final should be. Can't wait for it C'MON CITY!
Whilst this is true in the main, there were plenty of pissed up dickheads who took the defeat very poorly.

"A dream come true" is patently hyperbole, but as a third trophy in three years, and the first step towards a domestic double/treble, a win would be very nice thank you.

this cup means alot to me,i remember waiting at home for my dad to get back from wembley and i remember his roset and blue white and maroon scarf and his big smile…….he is poorly in a nursing home at the moment,i know for sure if we win it,it will bring back amazing memories…..fingers crossed

It would mean a great deal to me. I remember i was only 10 in the mid 90s when we were going from bad to worse. I got so much piss taking from the (felt like) millions of Raggish bandwaggoners at school. I never ever thought I'd see City win a raffle, never mind the Premier League, so to see us win this Trophy too would just be fantastic. I can't describe it.

I'm still as excited now as I was in '08. and I'll never sneer at any silverware. I look at the players and think "Am i dreaming". David Silva, Aguero, Yaya, Vincent... pure, pure class. Finest footballers I've ever seen in the Sky Blue of City. I'm living my childhood dreams watching City these days, and if we win the League Cup Final at Wembley, well, it would be sublime.

It's clearly bottom of the list of all the trophies and I can't say it would be a dream come true to win it. Even when we were shit it was a "even the League Cup will do" sort of attitude towards it for me when wanting to win a trophy.

But now it's final time I'm very excited. It doesn't mean as much to me as the FA Cup, that is a special trophy, but it will be a great day out if we win and great for the club to continue winning trophies.

Anyone for a City v Sunderland domestic cup double header for the FL and FA Cups this season like Arsenal v Sheffield Wednesday in the early 1990s?!

Depends on how you view things.

I agree with blue2112, I so wanted to win this one, I was lucky enough to spend a couple of years sat next to blue2112 in the north stand as a kid, but luckier in that I was at both the 74 and 76 finals, and winning today meant an awful lot to me.

There are so many who don't rate this competition, but it was the first final I saw live as a kid, and we lost (74), and going back two years later to see us win is still very special to me, both times I went with my mum.

I still remember both games, but strangely I remember 74 more, simply because my mum took me away before wolves got the cup, and she was moaned at by some woman for disrespecting whichever royal was presenting the cup. We chatted by text about that today before the game, its 40 years ago, but we both remember it.

Its a cup we should respect, its 38 years since we last lifted it.

Nice post. Hope you get to see your dad with a big old smile and give him his match program.
