To See Us Lift The League Cup Will Be A Dream Come True

not that long ago that if city won the football card in the pub it was cause for mass celebration! How times change !

I was at all 3 previous finals. 1970 when City had just come back from Portugal an ECWC game against Academica de Coimbra (a shower of dirty bastards but that's another story), Joe Corrigan's cock up gifting WBA a goal after only 5 minutes and a mud caked Glyn Pardoe getting the winner in extra time on a shit heap of a pitch. (Incredibly the Horse of the Year Show had just taken place at Wembley and the pitch was criminally churned up).

1974 when I was so confident we'd beat Wolves but lost 2-1 with Wolves keeper Gary Pierce playing the game of his life. He was shit before and shit after but that day was his. Rodney Marsh so gutted he walked off without collecting his tankard. (No medals for LC finalists in those days).

1976 when Dennis Tueart's amazing goal beat Newcastle after a teenage Peter Barnes had opened the scoring and Alan Gowling had equalised for Newcastle.

3 finals in 6 years and now 38 years later I'll be going to my 4th League Cup final. Hoping for a win of course.

1970 was my first final as well. Was only 10
Wasn't it Gary Pierce's debut in 74?

This is a massive game for me personally, if we win it'll mean domestically I've seen us win everything. I know we've won it before but it was before I was born so for me that's just a stat. I'm 30 and have been going to city since 90, I should imagine everyone around my age and younger will feel the same!

I'm impressed by any City supporters under the age of 35/36.Basically they have supported a team that had won nothing from before they were born and quite frankly were at times unbelieveably bad.

So well done lads and lasses for sticking with it and I think the club should dedicate this final to this hardy group of warriors. This has always been known as the fans final.... So COME ON YOU BLUES

Me I'm a glory hunter from '67 who was fortunate enough to see us at Wembley in this competition in both '74 and' 76.

Dennis Tueart and his overhead kick. For fans of a certain age, that image is really meaningful. It was our only moment of glory for 35 years so it's a good job that it was one of Wembley's most iconic moments

I'm struggling now to think of any other Wembley League Cup Finals. I remember some of the more recent finals, like last season, and Arsenal v Birmingham. Any none City finals stand out in your mind?

Apparently SAFC played Norwich in 1985 and lost 1-0. I have absolutely no recollection of that.

Didn't Oxford United beat Arsenal (I think) sometime in the dim and distant past?
