Aguero 200k, Tevez 200k, Toure 220k, Nasri 180k, Silva 160k, Balotelli 100k...all reported figures, like Rooney's reported 250k and those wages are obscene. I would hate to see your wage bill when the books are released next year. I doubt United have players earning that much money.

I can see why Wenger doesnt want to over pay wages because lets be honest, a lot of City players are overpaid. 200k for bloody Tevez and Aguero which is probably more than Iniesta and Fabregas at Barca.

See those wages - they're nothing compared to what we'll be paying the likes of Messi and Ronaldo in the next few years. Nobody can compete now. Face it - City are going to rule the world until someone richer than our owner comes along...which isn't going to happen. So basically world football is ours mwahahahahaha

These thoughts are the posters own and do not reflect the views of normal fans.

Firstly, you or the press do not have an ounce of evidence to prove what players earn. Do you go around telling people you salary? Players wages these days are a complicated mix of performance related pay, image rights , bonuses and more besides. So quit with trying to nail peoples earnings like you are some kind of In the Know Accountant.

Those 'wages' are obscene because you're club cannot afford it. I didn't hear you whinging when Villa bought Darren Bent for a very large transfer fee, with which I'm sure he gets paid handsomely. So are Aston Villa trying to 'buy sucess' over their local rivals West Brom, Birmingham etc because they can afford Darren Bent's transfer fee and wages? Wages and transfer fees are relative mate, to what the club can afford. We are blessed and fortunate. Not arrogant or gloating. We know we are lucky but football is like anything else in life, you buy what you can afford.

Another poster on here, on another thread summed it up;
"the same people that said money wont buy you success will be the same people that say you bought success"

Go figure it.

Without doubt we've overpaid, and that's a problem, the big problem is players earning those wages who aren't even playing for the club, like Bellamy last season and Ade this season. Shifting on these players has been impossible because no-one will pay what we do. However, it was a necessary part of the project. How else can you attract Champions League quality players to a club that didn't have Champions League football. Now our position will be much stronger and if our wage bill is a bit higher, so what, we've got more star names, and star names should bring in their own revenue as well as helping us to success.

It's also the reason we'll be fighting it out for the title whilst Arsenal fight for 4th. Barcelona have the highest revenue in world football and yet often make a loss and a big part of that is that their wage bill is £200m. For you to hold them up as an example of how much to pay your players shows how little you know about football finances.

Yeah but thats just my point. You lot are saying Aguero, Tevez, Nasri, Silva etc...are not earning those reported figures, so why are some of you lot saying Rooney is on 250k a week? How do you know he is on that much?

Also there is no way that United CURRENTLY have a higher wage bill than you, when City have just signed Aguero and Nasri who are on big contracts.

Me CITEH fan long time called BERTIE but now in UK. Loved the MASSIVE win on Sunday but could not get ticket in big Manchester cup final so got off the train in STOCKPORT and watched it in pub with many blues like me, pub was rafters packed.

Lots of cheering in pub when we score many and split my BITTER on new friend CURLY WATTS when number 5 goal. Many red fans i have told me that CITEH never be champions and now don't even have the BIGGEST FLOODLIGHT IN THE LAND since move from Maine St to WASTELANDS. They go on about COUNCIL HOUSE but my English joke isn't the best and cannot understand this?

When number 6 goal go in they text me to tell me 20,000 EMPTY SEATS at every home game and the SHEIK WILL BE BORED SOON. Hope this bit true so i can get ticket for big champions carling game next time. Only game i see citizens was lots of year back at YORK AWAY, over 100,000 in away corner, bizarre!

Fair points : )

You can understand Barca having the biggest wage bill with the players they have, but then again most of their players are from their academy, and not multi million buys like Madrid, and Chelsea.
My point was just that i do think City pay their players too much money. I can't believe 23 year old Aguero is earning 200k ''which is reported by most newspapers''.

Indeed, you've got to respect Barcelona's youth system and it's the one we're trying to emulate. I don't know if you've seen the plans for our new academy but they are staggering (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-14973123" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ma ... r-14973123</a>), but they've still got to pay those high wages to keep them there. The vast majority of players, and most people in life, are mercenaries when it comes down to it and will work for who's paying the most especially if it's essentially the same job but for much more money - even if you've come through the youth system it's not a big guarantee of loyalty. We've currently got Richards and Hart in the first team who've been with us from a young age but they'd still be off if we weren't progressing as a club and paying them enough.

Footballers get paid far too much mate. It's ultra competitive and so demand will always be much higher than supply. I can't see any solution to be honest. Any wage cap will just result in rich clubs paying their players under the table. Our club knows a little something about that - we do have history believe or not, same as yourselves.

By the way ignore ManCity4ever10, it's a blatant rag who signed up two days after we murdered them lot 6-1. It will be banned shortly no doubt.
