I left it to the last minute - my 10 year Green Card expires at the end of December so it was a toss up between renewing it or citizenship. Seeing as the price for both is around the same fee, I thought I'd get the citizenship so don't have to bother renewing every 10 years.

Yes I got the 2 year one.

This is where I am a bit confused. I can apply for citizenship if I am just married to a US citizen for 3 years or do I need to be on my green card AND be married to a US citizen for 3 years to start the process? So I got my green card in March of this year but I have been married to my missus for 2.5 years now. So are you saying I can apply for citizenship this year itself?

They had to go for a couple of interviews and show bills and acounts in both their names apparantly and she got her green card. She worked on the casino boats then set herself up as a ' Realtor '.

But yes you have to show bank accounts in joint names, same with car insurance and filing tax returns in joint names too.

No..never really were together, marriage of convenience so to speak just purely to get a green card. She, unfortunately is no longer with us.

He doesn't really need to even register. He can just show up day of and moan about "his rights" and "discrimination" in a loud voice and they will sort him out.
