I think it's a mixture of things but It depends on the club IMO. One thing for sure is that goals themselves have lost value. Before you would go nuts when we scored because they could mean a lot more and 3 points was a huge gain.
It's also we are now conditioned to a higher expectation and quality of football. Now when we are up 3-1 it's an enjoyable experience and you can sit back and relax. Before all our emotions were all over the place and in a way a tad bipolar. Now that feeling is really around on the 'big' games.
The way the club can try and help find a solution is clearly letting friends and active fans sit next to each other. If there could ever be the chance for a safe standing section then it would definitely improve atmosphere but that's out of the clubs control.
At times I do miss that level of intensity when City play but I wouldn't change a thing. The amount of stress and anxiety following the blues before was ridiculous. Its a trade of really, but watching clubs like Bayern come to Eastlands is far more exciting then Burnley for me.
