Today's shooting in America thread

Crazy laws in that country.
It's like you can go to someone's house and start vandalising their car, when they come out and angrily tell you to stop, you can shoot them dead and claim self defense because they came at you in an aggressive way, even when the whole thing is filmed

Wisconsin doesn't have stand your ground laws, in both incidents he was running away and being pursued.

The prosecution accidentally (lol) suppressed the correct video of what actually took place, which shows Rittenhouse pursed/attacked initially multiple times. And the Prosecution promptly got caught out. After that all came out there was only 1 outcome.

Whether you agree with their laws or not this case should probably have never gone to trial. The judge, an Obama Democrat nominee by the way banned NBC for their activities with the jury and Biden’s ludicrous comments on an ongoing trial meant a guilty verdict may well have led to a mistrial being declared anyway....

Why was he there in the first place, what a mixed up country.
This is it for me. And not only why was he there, why was he there with a semi automatic assault rifle strapped to his body? The clue there is in the name of the weapon.

I’ve never been to The States, and I have no intention of doing so.

Agree I saw the 10pm news last night and it showed vigilantes armed to the teeth. They were more heavily armed than the police.
What a mad country with terrible human rights.

For me it's incomprehensible to think ordinary members of the public can walk around with guns. Let alone vigilantes with more guns than the police !

I have never been to the USA and will never go, it's way to violent and out of control for me.

A work colleague went to the area were the Masters Golf is held. The golf course area very posh but just a few miles away shanty towns. He got chatting to the police who were guarding the hotel about law and order. He was shocked when the policeman said we shot first and ask questions later. Ok this was in the early 90's but it seems nothing has changed.

That lad travelled 20 miles with an assault rifle and he gets off scot free. Do the American's not realise what idiots they look to the rest of the World?

Anyone been following the Kyle Rittenhouse case this week? Closing statements happening at the moment. Police are expecting riots/protesting regardless of the verdict.
nope, somebody i dont know shot somebody i dont know over 3,000 miles away, happens every day

Well, the rifle never crossed state lines, it was fully legal for him to have one, and he would be dead today if he didn't. He worked in Kenosha, his dad also lives there, he grow up in Antioch IL, 20 minutes away. He was attacked with a skateboard and a gun by three guys who weren't happy he was putting down fires started by them, there is literally footage of all that, Kyle holding a fire extinguisher. That third guy, the one who survived, said himself it was self defense. A 17 year old helping all the wounded people, helping to clean, putting down fires, I was nearby during the riots, it was truly insane. For me, he has some balls on him to put himself in such a dangerous position just to help out.

For me, a better question is why were those guys there with all their weapons, one was a convicted paedophile, who raped 5 boys between the ages of 9-11, the other was a domestic abuser with a huge criminal record, so I would question their motives first before anything else. I am glad the jury didn't listen to completely distorted version of events presented by mainstream media, and I hope Kyle sues them for defamation. The fact this case even went to trial is crazy, anyone who watched it knows that, there is video evidence that shows it all.

Fair enough, you are at the sharp end so I will bow to your superior knowledge.

I think this is what Grey was referring to.

I understand, I am against gun possession myself, I would ban all weapons altogether. Having said that, I know a lot of offenders use illegally obtained ones, violent crimes in America are a huge problem in general.

In this case the judge ruled Rittenhouse could not be convicted of the weapon possession charge unless the state proved his rifle had an unlawfully short barrel. The state failed to do so, subsequently it was dropped, so that's why I said it wasn't a problem in this case.

Anyway, based on everything else, I think the verdict was correct, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
