Today's shooting in America thread

So will you never go to Southend from now on seeing as an MP was murdered there a few weeks ago?

Just spent the weekend in New York. A great weekend. Was on the ferry to/ from Staten Island at 10.30pm and on the subway from 11.30 to midnight from the ferry terminal through to Queens.
Not a hint of anyone out there looking for trouble.
On my trips back home I am nervous walking through town in the afternoons never mind once it gets dark.....

Can't get away from the fact the states is more dangerous than the UK, not enough to put me off but can see why others would be.

Meanwhile today brings us more idiocy from across the pond.

This is not 'idiocy'.

The trend was always going to happen because stupid laws benefitted one side and now all sides want the same protection.

Is the point to expose the hypocrisy by "inviting" law enforcement to arrest them and seize their guns when they would have escaped scrutiny if they were white?

The 2nd Amendment of The US Constitution is -
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
It makes no mention of race, religion or creed of the people.
That is the second half of the sentence.
It says :

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

"Well regulated" would be something.

It also predates the abolition of slavery by 74 years, (13th Amendment) so I reckon most slaves probably weren't carrying rifles or it might have ended a bit earlier.

It is idiocy tho.
On both sides.
I'm not saying they are wrong, people of differing opinions are turning up armed to the teeth so it would be wise to tool up too.
If this becomes the norm the next time there are riots in the US, it will be absolute carnage.
Even at rallies, there will lots of standoffs but one day and it will only take one person to pull the trigger and with in seconds they'll all be doing it. It will be like watching a blockbuster movie, it will be live streamed, it will on the news

Yes that's true, the right to keep guns was also an important part of keeping slaves or capturing them if they escaped.
