Today's shooting in America thread

From my experience of threads like this as a British person it is pointless to enter into a conversation with the Americans.

We are like chalk and cheese, sadly a mass shooting doesnt have any impact on me its almost daily. The Americans are bothered about it they just buy big better guns and so it goes on.

I pop in here every now and again but I dont really get involved you wont change the Americans love for their guns.

It's one country I would never set foot in.

Effectively the only one on the thread who leans toward the "gun" side is a transplanted Brit, so . . .

I'm having a hard time at the moment with this. Wife and I live in the states, are now US citizens, and both kids were born here.

My lad is getting ready to start 1st grade and my daughter pre school and I simply don't want them to. I cant even imagine the anguish of getting 'that' phone call, and I cant wrap my head around anyone that advocates for guns especially after something like this.

Something is very broken over here and no one wants to even try to fix it.

You know, I was going to ask if it's relatively 'safe' where you live and then I realised how stupid a question that was, in a country where guns are easily accessible...

I wonder if she got on a plane before 9/11 and, if she did, whether she’s noticed any difference since?
Also, counting suicides and injuries, there are now the equivalent of twenty five 9/11’s, every year and that number is rising year on year.

Finally, more than 10 children under 12 and 80 children aged 12-17, are killed or injured EVERY week.
Talking of changes in air travel...

Unfortunately for the police, the “good guy with a gun” argument will always be applied now because of the remarks made by the CEO of the NRA. Everyone knew it was totally illogical yet they ran with it.

Don’t even know where to start, they’re now saying they didn’t realise it was still an active shooter situation yet multiple calls for kids in there asking for help.

I don’t think they could have handled this any worse.

The interpretation of 2A as the statement that underpins citizens unfettered right in law to bear weapons (including mil spec weapons and ammunition) is the original big lie. Convince enough people that it's true and it becomes pseudo-fact.
I can only ask what is, then?

Your ire is palpable, but misplaced. You strike me as fairly levelheaded, yet appear to be screaming into the wind on 2A.

I’m just reporting what I see, read and here. You seem to believe something I haven’t seen mentioned in any of that.
