Today's shooting in America thread

That’s a good one. I wrote before about how Scalia shoved that third point in, determining the difference on his own (and the other supporting justices) of what 2A could and could not allow in terms of specific weaponry with no reference to prior case law. He refers to lack of infringement, and then later just decides to infringe it based on the “current” definition of military weaponry. It’s a ridiculous opinion, and will only be harder to overturn later after the inevitable 5-4 ruling in Bruen forthcoming which will eviscerate government’s ability to restrict concealed carry.

A former (Chief) Justice — who I disagreed with often — offered his own view on this topic, focusing on the word “regulated”:

But “regulation” is a “slippery slope”. Or it isn’t, but the problem is “too far gone” or some shit. Gun-toters like to ignore the word “well-regulated” (and completely ignore the word “militia”) and focus on the words “shall not be infringed”.

But that’s okay. With this court, and the craven cowardliness of law-abiding gunowners to support more aggressive regulation, maybe soon we’ll all be able to carry guns I to sporting events, museums, onto airplanes and into hospitals in the US and we’ll all feel safer from any potential “bad actor”, obviously. Athletes, artists, pilots and doctors will have so much peace of mind given all the law-abiding citizen protection they’ll have.

Won’t they?
