Rhode Island had relatively strict gun regulations. You just know the excuse will be 'relax the gun laws and arm more good guys'.
You know it won’t, but you also know that nut jobs who commit these acts don’t give a shit about the gun laws.
That’s not a good answer to the problem of guns in the hands of notions, but you and I both know that guns are readily available and, as has happened in the past, should there be even a sniff of prohibition of any firearm, it merely just makes the cost of it rise dramatically.
It is literally impossible, at least for the foreseeable future, to even imagine any attempt to repeal 2A. Therefore, serious gun law restrictions are virtually impossible, too.
I live in Cook County, Illinois, home of the City of Chicago, which was the last state to allow carry weapons…and only then after a lawsuit forced it to happen. There are still certain restrictions, some of which have been successfully challenged in court, but which the judge assigned to the case has not acted. I know because I was recently denied an accessory!
So, while it might seem I’m on one side of the issue, I’d happily give up my firearms if it was required for everyone because 2A was repealed.
Quandary.
