mickey mouse torunament organised by a bunch of clowns. i mean, whos bright idea was it to send some of the most valuable players in world football through a worn torn country on a coach. it just defies belief. whole thing should be scrapped.

Well said!

Squad member Thomas Dossevi said afterwards they had been "fired on like dogs."

"We are all a little shocked and we're asking why CAF (the competition organisers) were holding games in Cabinda. How can you organise a tournament in a state of war?" Dossevi told AFP Saturday.

Angola want have Cabinda to host tournament to prove or show that they control Cabinda.
But separatist already shown that they're not yet done.

has anyone heard the comment from jeff stenning abouts ade,s return home on soccer saturday a few minutes ago? it was very underhanded, i just caught the back end of it ie adebayors as made his OWN MIND UP and returning home, he put it across very nasty and partial, i,ve just sent them an e mail they should be throwing it the waste bin as i put this down?

The CAF seem as clueless as blatter, and uefa, the team should have flown apparently, so the army escort was pure coincidence and they didnt know the arrangements.

Ive always thought its a really fuckin stupid idea to take a bus full of multi-millionaires through Africa...

Awful, awful news. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was involved. Just listened to an interview from Ade on the BBC site and it sounds terrifying what happened, saw a quick clip on there as well of Ade and his team mates after it and it's so sad. I think Ade deserves an amazing welcome back from all of our fans in the stadium when he is back playing for us.

the angolan football authorities said that ALL teams were advised to fly into angola rather than travel by road cross-country...so someone within the togan national team took the decision to drive, probably on good authority from the local intelligence gathered

They make Blatter and UEFA look like the best thing since sliced bread!

I can't help but wondering - if those rebels knew what team they were targeting Adebayor might well have been the main target, knowing he's a multi-millionare they could have kidnapped him or whatever. Scary thought. Might have just been a more or less unplanned attack though. The whole thing is really scary, I just hope this is the last thing like this we'll see in the tournament.
