Togo team bus shot at - Adebayor safe {merged}

Ade said it`s one of the worst experiences he has had in his life. He must have seen some carnage in his time growing up then. This makes me believe that he will be mentally strong enough to carry on. An example is the Sri Lankan cricket team who were attached in Pakistan. They seem to have been able to put it behind them.

Poverty, starvation, civil unrest and outright war... It appears to me that life there just wears a much harder face, and these lads come from the streets. Guns and shootings are, I expect, much closer to a simple fact of life for these guys, than it is for you and me. Sadly.

I don't know if this has been posted already, Ade's 6 minuet interview with the BBC.

Wow, players calling their families from the bus basically saying goodbye because they thought they would all be killed, fucking scary indeed.

I've just listened to the audio interview. Shocking stuff. I can't imagine what it must be like to see your teammates/friends shot in front of you.

I'd expect them to be coming back pretty soon. I don't think any of them must be in a fit state to play football.

I don't understand that, though. Everyone would be dead if an armed gang with machine guns attached a coach full of unarmed people for thirty minutes.

Maybe there was some kind of gun battle with there armed guard (did they have an armed guard ?).

Actually yeah, I've just read some of Ade's comments in detail and it sounds like there was some security there that held them off a bit until get away vehicles arrived. Really scary.

Could have easily become a hostage situation....then it would have been really bad...Thanks to god it didnt go further.
