Tokyo 2020 Olympics/Paralympics

Nice of City to provide 2 goals and assists for TeamGB to get them up and running. No real surprise though seeing as we make up most of the team with 8 starters and another coming off the bench. Think there's a lot of pressure on Ellen White to score the goals for this team though and doesn't seem to be a direct replacement in the squad to give her a rest. With Kirby being injured (there's a surprise!) I suppose that leaves Stanway and Parris as main cover options and I don't really see either as an out-and-out centre forward.

So much for the BBC promoting the women's game. The USA vs Sweden match could end up being the final and got stuck on the red button. Can understand this whie the overlap with TeamGB was going on but why not shift it onto a main channel when that was over?

Thought Sweden were thoroughly deserving winners, getting their tactics spot on while the US left themselves far to open through the middle and were definitely better when they made the half-time substitution that gave some protection to their back 4. Was nice to see another 5 players with current or past association to City too.

Olympic football is seen as a minor event. Unless of course we had a men's team full of English/Welsh/Scottish Rags and Dippers...

I definitely saw a hint of City in the way the GB play. There's always someone available, providing an angle for the person on the ball. It's probably a good thing to have so many players that play together all the time anyway.
