"@TomDaley1994 you let your dad down i hope you know that"

He is a daft teenager who posted some vile comments, but does he really warrant a custodial sentence?
If being stupid on Twitter is a prison offence, then we'd better get building some new prisons.
He's a fucking Skyrag from down south.
Take away his MUTV subscription and digi-box and for life.
Costs the taxpayers fuck all,and means he can't watch manure.
What's not to like?

whilst this is pretty sick I have seen posters on this forum delight is some pretty disgusting abuse of utd players. What I think some posters are saying on this thread is where is the line going to be drawn on what people write and what justifies an arrest.
Threats of physical violence is why he was arrested.

I don't take internet threats seriously as I know a lot of the people who dish them out are sub standard humans and simply not on my level. Im sure Tom feels the same, but I suppose the po po have to take it seriously as it could bite them on the arse if not.

Point taken to all who quoted me and replied. He is obviously a nasty little fucker, i hadn`t seen all the other stuff he had wrote on twitter. I think he should get a caution then if he contiues , it`s up to somebody to complain. BB2`s point about stuff said on this forum is true. We had one poster who saying that, they hoped a certain ref and his family burn`t to death`. That could have been incitement couldn`t it? Where do we draw the line and when do the police get involved?

A lot of the hype has been fuelled by Olly Riley and his 120,000 Twitter following of little girls.

while i agree with you to a certain extent some people may be hypocritical, posting abuse anonymously on a forum is one thing, directing threats an abuse directly to twitter account, is the same as sending threatening letters or phone calls and is violating someones human rights.

i know police deal with alot of crap regarding this between individuals and you are protected by the law if someone sends you athreat via e mail, mobile twitter or face book. also as a teacher i have heard of police becoming involved in cyber bullying, it can become quite serious and again is an obvious violation of basic human rights.

freedom of speech may be an imprtant human right but to live un threatened and to feel safe is more fundamental. there is an obvious debate here but not in this case and not when families, students etc are threatening each other via non face to face means.

Are you for real? The old bill got involved because of the threats he was making. Fuck off justifying this type of scum bag. Would he say it to someone in the street? No - yet it is ok for him to sit behind a keyboard and do it. He has committed at least some public order offences.
Tom Daley is more of a human being than that scum bag will ever be.
