I saw him make his debut too....... so mature for his age. I wonder whether today he would get more support from the FA regarding his drinking problem. Really very sad .....His son played briefly for Swindon Town and various non-league teams.

Hate to say this but he wasn’t that good IMHO. One footed and got turned inside out by the best centre forwards. He was fast but Linford Christie would have been a shit footballer.

Being big, talented and fast at 16 is one thing. Doing it against seasoned pros is another. He wasn’t good enough.Tommy was an outstanding prospect at 16, deserving and holding a first team place.
However he never really kicked on like I thought he would to become a colossus of the game.

Yeah, his last act as a City player, was to give the away fans the Vs, as he was subbed off.Remember him getting serious grief in his last City game at Carlisle. Think the move had been heavily reported in the media.

I loved that Cup Final team. To this day, I remember PIN numbers based on the shirt numbers of the players from that match. In many ways, this is what Bluemoon is all about, isn't it? I came on here tonight thinking I'd wallow in the post-match glow of another (away) win (we've just beaten Palace 2-0 in 2021 if anyone - unlikely - is reading this in the future). But within seconds, I'd spotted the new 'Next season's kit' thread. And from there it was a hop-skip-and-a-jump to reminiscing about Tommy Caton, Nicky Reid and Ray Ranson. And I'm 10 years old again. Didn't he have a younger brother on the books at City, too?
