Tommy Doyle | On loan at Wolves

Not seeming like the Hamburg loan is bearing fruit yet. 3 games so far and 3 unused sub appearances. Was hoping he was going to be a bit of a protagonist there.

Feel unless he gets to start soon he’ll end up falling behind the other prospects.

Probably just needs a bit of patience. It's very early days and it's a very long season.

Hamburg are also unbeaten in five now, so it’s not going to be easy breaking into the team. That said, far better to be at a team which is getting stronger. Away to bottom placed Erzgebirge on Friday evening so might make it off the bench in that one.

He made his debut tonight, fifth sub and he only came on in the 86th minute. But what a debut! Hamburg were trailing 1-0 to lowly Erzgebirge, who had stoutly played out the last twenty minutes with ten men- lost a man to a highly debatable refereeing call. Anyway, with seconds left of four minutes injury time, Doyle dummied a ball into the box, spun to collect the return from Glatzel and then used his left foot to chip the advancing goalkeeper. The ball appeared to be going in but crashed off the bar and down, so close, only for the Erzgebirge defender Carlson to somehow head it inexplicably into his own net instead of behind. Cue absolute bedlam in the Hamburg end and stunned disbelief in the home crowd. Had to feel sorry for them as it would have been a deserved scalp.

Anyhow, Tommy looked to get the ball forward quickly in the time he was on, which is something Hamburg really need as they’re too prone to playing square. However, he also lost it cheaply which led to a dangerous counterattack, but he’ll improve in that regard as he gets match fitness.

Next game is home to Düsseldorf after the international break, so maybe he’ll get off the bench a little earlier in that one.

Nice one mate. I didn't see the game but checked twitter and it seems he made a positive impact, albeit for a short time. Thanks for providing some detail/insight

Shitty own goal but ffs the player needs to man up, booing and collapsing like an 8yo and that is harsh on 8yo's
