Tommy Doyle | Signs for Wolves | will be confirmed Jul 1st

I think the opposite. I think he’s overrated due to his family history.

He’s a younger James Ward-Prowse. Nothing wrong with that. He will go on to have a good career but not at the elite level.
Obviously i'm hoping he lives up to the early hype......but he's almost a carbon copy of Ward Prowse, and if he goes on to emulate his career he will have done brilliantly.

Not sure how he could be overrated when nobody other than a few people in this thread talk about him anymore.

The guy's practically dropped off the radar.

There’s a world outside of blue moon forum haha.

I think before this season if you asked a pool of City fans who the top three youth prospects were at the club he would have faired quite highly when in reality he’s nowhere near.

So who is it outside of our fanbase who is supposedly overrating him? Like I said, nobody outside of a few people on this site really talk about him anymore.

I'm not having a go or anything, people just throw the term around a lot for no real reason.

I don't think any sizeable portion of City supporters would have put him in their top three prospects before the start of this season. Not when we've had the likes of Palmer, Delap, Lavia, McAtee, Mbete and Harwood-Bellis all drawing way more attention with their performances. Probably a good few others who I haven't thought of off the top of my head, too.

On the contrary, I think the general outlook has been fairly realistic on him for a while now.

People wanting him to succeed with us doesn't necessarily mean they think he's amongst our best.

I would be perfectly fine with Ward-Prowse as a squad player here. Especially a young one with time to grow and learn, blessed with clear leadership abilities and a ridiculous love of this club that some of us fans couldn't even comprehend. That gives him an edge that matters.

We were quite credibly linked with JWP before Fernandinho extended and to be honest I wouldn't be that surprised if we picked him up this summer given Doyle and Lavia probably aren't going to be trusted to be the only back up to Rodri yet.

Pep's been full of praise for him in the past and he might get a trip to the world cup and a few trophies out of making a move to a top 4 club even in a smaller role.

I wouldn't either. He's a good player with plenty of room to improve. Worth remembering just how much Fernandinho improved, and he signed at 28. JWP is a couple of years younger and already an established and effective PL midfielder. As you said on a previous post, we do have to box to box players now. Bernardo does that. JWP would be a perfectly fine rotation for him in the lesser games IMO.

First start tonight and managed 79 minutes away to Nurnberg in the cup. Hamburg rather rode their luck in extra time but won the penalty shoot out 2-4.
Fair play to the Hamburg fans who made that journey on a Tuesday night.

Got on in the 72nd minute in this evening’s 1-1 draw with Kiel. Not much he could do to influence the game in that time. That’s Hamburg’s seventh draw in twelve games (really are the draw king specialists) and they’re now trailing leaders St. Pauli by seven points.
