Tommy Doyle | Signs for Wolves | will be confirmed Jul 1st

I’ve said it before, Tommy Doyle would have a lovely little career path laid out for him at City if he redesigned himself as an “inside” full back like Delph did (but on the right)

The more I see Cancelo the more I feel left back is natural for him rather than right back, leaving a lovely little spot at right back glaring open for him! Yes Yan Couto is also an option but I get the impression he is CFG not City, and Tommy Doyle classes as HG for Europe.

He’s shown in his limited game time at City that he understands our patterns of play, he takes a mean set piece and has a decent amount of aggression for a slight lad, teach him positioning and we’re laughing in my opinion! If Pep can do it with The Zinchmeister and Delph he can do it with someone who was brought up playing the Pep philosophy

Fiorini played 17 times for Lincoln and also had 47 professional starts at 19 years old,had 30 starts out in Breda where he didn’t get in the team at start of the season.Fiorini was also out in Netherlands in lockdown

I think Doyle is probably in the Lukas Nmecha bracket where we'll loan him out until he has a good stint, then we will look to cash in for an 8-12 mil fee. He's a decent player, but there are younger players at the club who seem ahead of him and my guess would be we'll cut the loan short at Hamburg, send him somewhere else and hope he pops off there and we can get a fee.

As bad as this loan has seemed, with the right attitude Doyle can work all of this in his favour. There are potentially great lessons to learn that will keep him honest for the rest of his career.

He can find motivation from this to bounce back and become a player beyond what anyone thought. I hope he does.

Zinchenko had a bad loan spell also where he was rarely played.

That’s actually not the worst idea I’ve ever heard

Looking at Bundesliga 2 table Hamburg are third with a record of won 7, drawn 9, lost 2 which suggests they are pretty conservative. The top two seem to be opening a gap then the are four teams on 30 points.

The team that finishes third plays a 2-leg playoff against the team that finishes third from bottom in the top division with the winner of that playing in the top flight.

It would seem to me that Hamburg need to start being more adventurous and converting draws into wins and maybe giving Tommy some more minutes could help them with that.
