Tommy Muir RIP : minutes applause on 71 mins

So sad to hear of the passing of this lovely fella. My thoughts and condolences to Lyn and family. I've not seen Tommy for a while, I last saw him about 2 years ago at the match and had a pint and a good chat with him. I'd just like to share a couple of memories of him if I may. I have known Tommy for forty years. I first met Tommy and Lyn at their Pub the Ardwick Empire and as one of the posts above suggested, it was quite common to follow a landlord and landlady from pub to pub in those days, especially when they were as good as Tommy and Lyn . He started and played for our football team at the Ardwick Empire, I used to look forward so much to Sundays. He was as you would expect a decent and uncompromising full back. After they left the Ardwick Empire they went to the Mad Hatter and us regulars would split our time between pubs now. After that they went to the Kenilworth and so did we every Sunday. The George and Dragon was their next stop and it became a regular haunt for us particularly on a Sunday and I ended up turning out for that football team too. I would never have travelled these distances for a pint if it wasn't for Tommy. The Ardwick Empire, the football team and the away days from the Dragon are some of the best memories I have of Tommy. It was about the trip the beer and the banter. Tommy was in his element when organising away trips, supporter meetings, or team fixtures.
So nice to see so many tributes to Tommy on here. He was one of those people you were always genuinely pleased to see and to be in the company of.
I remember him once asking me did I want to pop up and see his memorabilia collection at the George as he said he might not put it all out on display again. Understandable considering how much there was. I spent a long time upstairs at the George that night looking at it all, It was like Santas Grotto up there for a blue, and Tommy had a back story for every piece of memorabilia on display. Tommy always had a story.
I will post a picture below of the Ardwick Empire football team which I would estimate was taken somewhere between 1984/1986 maybe a touch earlier. Tommy is stood extreme left sporting an 80"s tash and leather jacket. Some of you may recognise yourselves in this photo.
I consider myself, as I'm sure all of you do, very fortunate to have known Tommy.

Rest in peace Tommy,

Devestated many a time on the way to away games we would pull in at the George and Dragon and sometimes on the way back as well .When I was over for games I used to see him in the Hare and Hounds in Sudehill for a pint and a chat
He didn't look well though last time I saw him against Newcastle but that was Tommy nothing would stop him going to watch City RIP Tommy you will be rembered fondly
Don Price & on behalf P&W Blues

I never met him, but I recognise his face after often going in the Kenny and George. Cheadle in particular has such a big old school city presence and he seemed a big part of that.

Rest in peace.

Didn't know the bloke, but he followed City through all the barren years and at least he got to see us put that 'not in my lifetime' shite to bed, win the Treble, win the domestic Treble and hit the 100 points.
