The last surviving member of the original line up of the Ramones died on Friday.
A real originator ,great drummer ,writer and producer.
The Ramones; a real punk rock band.
 
Another legend gone - I remember seeing the Ramones at a sweaty International 2 on Great Western Street on the hottest day of summer, they stayed behind after a great show to chat to fans, and insisted that nobody paid for a drink at the bar.
62 is no age, and rarity as it is for a drummer, Tommy was a talented producer, (he was sound engineer on Hendrix's 'Band Of Gypsys' LP), manager and songwriter.

Old Punks never fade away...

I attended the Friday at Reading in '88. I couldn't say but it must have been the 3 originals minus Tommy. It was fucking wild. Got thrown around a muddy field. Probably my favourite gig ever.

A few weeks before that gig, I wrote off my car [I was asleep, no drink or drugs]. When I came round, 'I wanna live' was playing on the tape machine in the now mangled car. Weird but true...

So sad they've all died relatively young. RIP Tommy.

R.I.P . Wow it like that band was cursed or something. Was it Joey that died first? Around 2002/3 or something and then they all dropped like flies DeeDee, Johnny and now Tommy. And didn't the other drummer die?. Anyway it's weird. Great band, love them.
