Tommy Tuchel's England squad | Nov '25 (p17)

Doesn't look good but it's his first squad. He wants to see first hand who can be useful for him, so it actually makes sense really to have some of the old guard in for a last chance before moving on from them, he has a 2 year contract, it's not his job to be looking 5 years down the road.

Ignoring the injured, i don't think there's really any obvious omissions from that other than probably Gibbs white and perhaps hudson-odoi. Wharton has played like 3 games after a big injury, too early for him to come in

As for City picks, I don't think anybody has been hard done by, Rico doesn't have a position, isn't playing often enough and tuchel won't be playing like Pep so has no use for a small weak midfielder playing at fullback. grealish has been woeful, no surprise he's nowhere near the squad, stones obviously injured and Foden makes it in probably on name, I'd have had no complaints if he had been left out too.

Henderson and Walker are inexplicable choices. Rashford gets in on current form. He's been playing pretty well for Villa. That's just a fact. Pickford can be argued against, but actually I'm a bit stumped to pick an English goalkeeper I feel is better and more reliable.
Phil? Frankly, on the form he's shown this season, I'm not sure I'd put him in.

I know we're never all going to be happy with an England squad but that looks pretty dire. Pickford/Henderson/Walker/Rashford should be nowhere near.

Edit: No Wharton?
Rashford probably deserves to be in over several players. Decent for Villa.

Wharton just come back from big injury. Let him build back up at Palace.

I’m sorry but Rashford playing well for one month out of the last twelve does not warrant a recall. He has a couple of assists for Villa, barely long enough to call it a run of form.

As for Henderson, fucking hell.

No it won't win anything. Neither would Southgate with his shite football by percentages.

I'd just rather us NOT win stuff by playing the more skillful youngsters that we have and playing decent football, than NOT win stuff by playing turgid defensive shite.

I'm certainly not delusional, those worshipping Southgate maybe are though.
I am saying not only will it not win stuff, we wont be getting anywhere near semi's finals etc... If thats success then you measure it how you like. I personally would like our young players being used to getting to finals.

Its all yet to be proven yet, Tuchel might be a genius, we might get massive luck and I'll look like a dick then.

Can't say I agree with the selection at all, but I have to say he speaks well at the press conference.

I think I'm actually saying the same thing as you. There are a lot of talented young players in this country, this squad is pretty criminal in ignoring a lot of them.

But yeah, if he wins the World Cup that changes things a bit!

Lewis - Skelly. Wtaf?

The Great Hendo - makes absolute sense. Erm, not.

At least with Jonny Boy, Rico and Jack not called up they won't return injured...

Let's hope Phil gets a chance but I'm not convinced.

It might not be his job to look 5 years down the road but most of this squad have already proved that they’re not good enough for international football at the very highest level. Rashford not good enough (not good enough for the rags and 1 PL start for Villa, where he was subbed off), Walker, not good enough, Henderson, not good enough, Foden, scandalously out of form and should be nowhere near the squad.
As for the new caps, Quansah not a regular (10 PL appearances, some as sub) v Branthwaite, arguably Everton’s best outfield player this season.
Dan Burn will be a walking red card in international football.

Apart from that, it’s all good (
