Tommy Tuchel's England squad | Nov '25 (p17)

Probably preparing for a 3-5-2 or something.. a lot of underwhelming stuff. Burn left in a 3.

Bring back Leek Cowsley!

Why the pile on on Phil? He’s 24 and is having his first spell where he hasn’t been brilliant. He has hardly had a break since his debut over seven years ago and is knackered. Let’s sell him and get Morgan Rogers back. You’d definitely have something to moan about then.

He deserves stick for his performances this season. We've needed him and he's gone missing not even doing the bare minimum of running and fighting for his teammates.

I never said sell him for Morgan Rogers but he needs a kick up the arse and maybe being left out of the England squad would be a wake up call

Not even the Newcastle fans rate Burn. Say he only plays because of injuries. I reffed him when he was at Darlington and looked out of his depth then. Also reffed Pickford when he was on loan for Darlington. If you told me he would become a professional I would have laughed at you
Clearly judgement isn't that great then

Would I have Burn in the England team? No way, but he's proven to be able to do a job in the top two flights of English football for ten years or so.

Pickford isn't anything special but he's no worse than your average bottom half premier league goalie

This far out from a major competition, it'd be the perfect time to deliver some call-ups for players who have aged up out of the under 21s over the past few years but haven't had chance to establish themselves in the senior squad yet.

Of the 2017 under 17s world cup winning squad, only Foden and Guehi are in this squad. Players develop at differing rates and we were never going to lift and shift that entire team into the seniors, but you could look at that squad and pull out Gibbs-White, Gallagher and Hudson-Odoi as all being in with a good shout. Add the likes of Gomes, Smith Rowe and Sancho as being in the right sort of ballpark, players you want to encourage to try to prove themselves in time for the next World Cup to try to get into the squad.

There's a decent-sized core of players there who have played together since their teens, who won something with England and are now all playing in the top leagues. But only 2 of them could be said to be established senior internationals. I can't help but feel we might look back on that generation in 10 years or so and think it was foolish to not give more of them a chance in an England shirt at this sort of point in their careers.

Unfortunately the England way tends to be to shine too bright a light at too young an age on a very small number of players, while leaving it too late for many of their contemporaries to grow into international football.

Maybe we should have kept Carsley.

He has to earn the right to sing to national anthem.
No just be English for fucks sake.
How can a German sing the national anthem
