Watched the match, worked out on my treadmill, then came outside to hear our tsunami warning sirens as my town is on San Francisco Bay. Crazy undersea volcano near Tonga which caused it — Tonga flooded. Only very high tides here but first time since the Sumatra quake I’ve heard the sirens. Hope all is well with Pacific Island, NZ and Aussie blues!

I'm sure Bobby Charlton will be working on his speech right now if there are deaths due to this.......

'I know what you're going through.....64 years ago' etc, etc, etc...... 'to show my solidarity I'll give free Rag shirts to the relatives and a ticket to Rags v Brentford. I promise not to mention this ever, ever, ever again, until the next time'.

Again it seems a tsunami has 'by chance' hit a non white, non western nation. I'm sure the usual trump fans will claim this as a coincidence, but it's about time someone called out these blatantly racist natural disasters.

Good luck to all involved. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

And, I think people may underestimate the magnitude of that cataclysm, given those satellite sequences.

That cloud came from an eruption 1 mile below the surface of the ocean, and went to about 20 miles into the atmosphere, that's about 10 miles above where most storm clouds in the tropics can reach.
Wow.Cheers. Awe inspiring in a strange way.

Beaches closed here in Oz. No flags, no lifeguards.
Of course that means the usual deadbeat surfers take to the waves.

@Blue Mist might just adhere to the warnings though and just use the day to wax his equipment

We left Balmoral Beach Sydney just before the closure. Had a great morning with the grandson. There isnt much that can make me miss City v Chelsea but after this morning I will count this as one.

A before and after satellite radar image of Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai. This is about 30 miles north of Tonga itself.

The lump marked at Hunga Tonga rose to a height of 360 feet according to google earth, and its nearly disappeared, it was nearly 2 KM long.

It was obviously a pretty catastrophic explosion.
