World class player, but not the type of midfielder we need.

I've got to completely disagree, I think he's exactly the kind of player we need.

We've tried tough tacklers at defensive midfield who aren't good enough on the ball - DeJong, Javi Garcia and Fernando. And they've all been forced out of the team by players who aren't as good in the tackle, but are much better on the ball - Barry, Fernandinho and Yaya.

We need someone for that deep lying role to doctate play from deep, find a brilliant forward pass under pressure. There's no one in the world better than Kroos at that.

We can't neglect our defence, Kroos can't play in the holding role. He's about as good as yaya is when defending.

He's a central midfielder, not a pivot or defensive midfielder. Yes he's world class, but we've also got de bruyne and silva that are. We've got new silva and gundogan for centre mid too.

Kroos doesn't really play that deep lying role though, he'd be competing more with Silva. For Madrid Casemiro sits deep and even when he played under Pep at Bayern he used Lahm as his defensive midfielder.

Great player and would fit in with Peps player requisites (doesn't give the ball away needlessly)

Spot on. Bizzare that people scream out for a tough tackling destroyer. We were a miles better side with Barry sitting deep than we ever were with DeJong flying into tackles and getting himself horribly out of position. Barry was great at closing down passing lanes and keeping things ticking over with intelligent passes. He was also fantastic at drawing fouls to break up play.

Doesn't play anything like Bernardo. Or indeed de Bruyne, who loses possession a lot because he has such attacking instincts. Plays deeper than David Silva too.

In my book he is a replacement for Yaya. Less muscular obviously but he can hold onto the ball and pass it like the big man.

Towards the end of the season we were playing Yaya there so yes I can see Kroos in that position.

Give over... We're not signing Kroos. We have a better chance of signing Messi on a free. I can think of no more difficult transfer to pull off.

Yeah because it was either yaya or fernando, we had no other player that could keep the ball like yaya does. Fernandinho was poor in the second half of the season so he wasn't an option. I can understand everyone saying we don't need a de Jong type midfielder, I'm not saying that we should have a destroyer. We need someone who can pass the ball and that is also good at winning back the ball. Kroos isn't a defensive midfielder or pivot, so we don't need him. We're more than covered in central midfield. Kimmich is the ideal player.

I'm mad about Kroos, I think he is an absolute baller of a player but to see him as our deepest midfielder is not somewhere I'd ever like to see him. I wouldn't fancy him dropping in to cover a defender who'd broken further upfield nor would I like to see him responsible for fighting fires at the back, it'd be such a waste.

I'm certainly not saying I wouldn't want him or that he'd be bad for us just that I would only ever want to see him further ahead of a DM so he could be truly effective.

I'm not. I think he'd be like a drink of water when we lost the ball.

I think we would end up having to drop either DeBruyne or Silva to fit him in & I'd much rather have both.

Toni Kroos is fantastic player, perhaps the best midfielder in the world. BUT we need a destroyer in midfield believe or not. Madrid have Casemiro which allows Modric and Kroos play a natural attacking role from the deeper position.
