Tonight's Champions League Games

Can't believe all this Celtic were unlucky sentiment, seriously, CL should be renamed Barcelona vs cowards/losers League. Celtic is playing in f''''''kin champions league not in "hide in our half all game, get one lucky goal, bore everyone to death and then cry about losing to an unlucky goal League". Celtic didn't even try to put up a fight, in fact, they lost way before the kick off, deservedly so.

Disagree entirely!

The only way a team like Celtic can beat a team like Barcelona is to play on the counter and heavily defend under strict discipline. Why should they play open attacking football and get absolutely hammered just for your entertainment, the Celtic fans want a result, and if it takes playing like they did or like how Chelsea went about themselves in last seasons semi final then so be it.

Inter Milan played their 'door bolt' Catenaccio system in the 60's which was heavy defending, they bored audiences at times but not many teams could break them down. They went on to win 2 European Cups playing that stystem, a system that has gone down now as one of the big revolutionary tactics in football history, ironically, it was the 'Total Football' philosophy of Ajax that demolished Catenaccio, a system that was the earliest form, or you could say, the pure form of Tika Taka.

Not forgetting, Celtic won their first and only European Cup trophy beating the Catenaccio disciplined Inter Milan, either way, Celtic had every right to play against Barcelona in the manner they did, a side that cost the same as what Barca payed for Alex Song! It was a shame they missed out on a point, they worked incredibly hard last night!

Judging by the result, they can't.

Retreat to the goal, give Barcelona 70+ % possession and hope for multiple miracles, can't see that working out, then again, team that beat Barcelona in that fashion has Torres who cost way more than Song.

Are you suggesting that Celtic can beat Barcelona if they replicate tactics of a team which happens to be way out of their league?

To be fair, the quality between the two teams is huge and Barca have about 70% possession every game.

I'm not sure whether you're on the WUM or stupid.

The ONLY way Celtic would ever have a chance of getting something against Barcelona is by employing the tactics they did last night and, for 92 minutes, it worked.

If a club as big as Chelsea had to employ similar defensive tactics to get anything from Barcelona, home & away, why does it come as a surprise to you that Celtic would try the same thing?

If Celtic went to the Camp Nou and (tried) to play open, attacking football, then there would be NO chance of getting anything from the game and would probably get spanked for 6.

You ask every Celtic fan whether the tactics they adopted last night were the right ones and I'll give you a clue as to the answer.....its' not 'No'.

Nonsense, it was the equivalent of a pub-league team holding us at 1-1 for 93 mins, there was no other way they could do it. Celtic were great last night and we should use their performance to inspire us against the likes of Real, Barca, Inter etc. If an SPL team can beat Spartak Moscow away and almost draw with Barca away then the Premier League champions should be doing alright. Come on City let's give Ajax a good beating tonight!!

I don't think you can say Celtic were unlucky though, they were lucky it didn't end up 5 or 6 to Barcelona.

Not saying they could play any other way, (though Barca's defence is their weakness so i'd have been tempted to get at them) but if you keep giving them that much room and allow them so many efforts they're bound to score at some point.

The timing of it is why people are saying Celtic were unlucky.

I personally think they had it coming.

100 % correct.

to be honest i think barca & madrid spoil football i detest ronaldo & i detest messi & i hate both teams i don't think it's fair considering what teams have to do to even salvage a point against this scum . Celtic worked really hard and so did city against madrid . if anything its barca and madrid that bore me

Watchin Zenit Anderlecht, decent match. Hulk is far too selfish. So many times he could have passed it but instead tries to beat a man and ends up losing possession. Happened at least 5 or 6 times so far.
