Christian Poulsen reckons joining mega-rich Manchester City could never beat the buzz of being a Kop idol.

The Denmark midfielder is reunited with ex-Copenhagen chief Roy Hodgson after his £4.5million switch from Juventus to Liverpool.

He was a target for City during Sven Goran Eriksson’s reign – and is out to show the Blues what they missed when Liverpool head to Eastlands tomorrow night.

Poulsen, 30, said: ”You can’t compare Manchester City with the history of Liverpool and Manchester United.

“I think we have a really strong squad at Liverpool and we’ll be at the top of the league this year.

“When you’re at the Melwood training ground and Anfield, there’s a big history.”
