Tony Blair

Sir Anthony Blair. Man of the people, socialist, multi millionaire property developer.
Is this a multiple choice question?

Which 1 or these 3 statements is the true one?

As man of the people and socialist he certainly wasn't

Conflicted by Blair.
Put schools funding back to a sustainable level, along with Social Care and Sure Start provision but also built on PFI and dubious NHS decisions.

Internationally led by the nose by Bush into an avoidable, imaginary conflict.

It also perturbs me his (secret) conversion to Catholicism in the midst of all this.

One of the two best PMs in the last 40 odd years. How depressing that is could be argued for ever and a day.
Don’t like either but compared to this shower, I’d even take Maggie, there I’ve said it, time to jump off a cliff.
The last incumbent might have been shit and so we reappraise the previous and convince ourselves that they weren't as bad as we thought, and condemn the current occupant of No.10 as useless. I think over the years we have moved from ministers who paid more attention to governing for the benefit of the governed, whereas now we seem to have several bunches who want to flog a political philosophy with one hand whilst rummaging through the till with the other.

Suprised it has took thia long to be honest, most ex PM get some honour eventually, the fact the Queen has personally endowed this on the **** rather than government is also a factor, I doubt he would have got it otherwise as his shadiness and shithouse behaviour in iraq and after stepping down can be ignored by her maj more than a government already unpopular.

Ah, he'll want some recognition from His Holiness for his services to international peace! Hasn't the bastard got the Nobel Peace Prize yet?

Not as if any of the Conservative PMs since would put him forward for anything!

It puts him at a similar level to Thatcher who also was in the Order of the Garter. John Major is also a Knight of the Garter.

His love in with academies fucked up the education system more than help it and he and Blunket left the sector in a woeful state again because of the insistance of using PFI to build these new schools and academies.

in some areas it also created a two teir system in the most overlooked parts of the country.

Blair did some good things but his faithin private enterprise to look after social endevours like hospitals, transport and schools has left a legacy exploited by the austerity hungry tories.
