Top 100 Favourite Male Vocalists Final plus # 1

As he's got older and his voiced has mellowed and maybe got a bit more vulnerable he's done some great stuff. Big fan of the albums he's done with Alison Krauss, on the last one there's some really tender singing.

I get that he is singing within his range for the age he now is. And he does it very well .... but it bores me to death. Have seen him live a couple of times in recent years, and his bands seem to consist of some Moroccan blokes, who have wandered in off the street and joined in.

I and seemingly many others, were there for a glimpse of a Zeppelin song, however reworked to pop up. But if it works for you, that's great .... just doesn't ring my bell.

Percy was my #1 pick.

As others have pointed out, his work post Zep has been excellent. His latest album with Alison Krauss is another excellent record and his vocals are in fine fettle, they have aged like fine wine.

Look forward to seeing him and AK at Hyde Park this summer.
Leave my girlfriend out of this topic ;-)

Annoyed that I missed this! I'm such an idiot for not checking the off topic forum more often. I love these threads, though, thank you for organising them.

I imagine a certain Mr. Mercury will be high on the list... though I've always loved Counting Crows' Adam Duritz too, and of course Jeff Buckley.

Really pleased to see Springsteen AND Meatloaf on this list. Bat out of Hell was partly intended as a Springsteen parody, of course, but Meatloaf had such a powerful, sincere voice that he overshadowed that aspect of it.

Shout outs too to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. I believe it was Marvin Gaye who roughly said, not long after he first heard Dylan, that "from now on it's not about how pretty the voice is, it's about if it can make you believe the words".

Tom Jones has a voice that always makes me shiver. Saw him live twice at festivals, he's brilliant.

The other one I absolutely adore is Johnny Cash. Something about that man's voice made you feel like he had lived a hundred lifetimes.

Shirley another pisstake ;-)

This is a true showing where the word Favourite over Talented comes into play
Oh I don't know mate, I never liked him but he was a bloody good singer. Have to hold my hands up.
I feel the same about him as Freddie Mercury.

I voted for Adam Duritz. Can’t imagine he’s going to be in the top six.

I cant believe how few people know of him, and this is in the age of internet.
