Top 115 Female Music Artists Results | No.1 page 63

Unless the blessed Mary Chapin Carpenter makes a surprise appearance in the Top 10, I have to conclude that you are all tone deaf!
Literally my gateway into a whole world of new music. Came home pissed from the pub one night, many many years ago, couldn't be arsed to drag myself up the stairs so stuck the TV on and a woman i'd never seen before is sat with an acoustic singing a song called Quttin' Time. Hooked within about 30 seconds and I thought I really should bin off my prejudices and try listening to some of this sort of stuff. About a week later I bought State of The Heart and Nanci Griffith's One Fair Summer Evening and haven't looked back since.

That said she didn't actually make my list i'm sorry to say.

Prompted by @Idesofmarch69 comment about MCC, it occurred to me that it's pretty self evident now who isn't making the list and it makes your realise what insane amounts of talent there is/was out there.

There's so many brilliant artists who aren't going to be included. Even a cursory glance at some of my playlists and there's people like Roberta Flack, Linda Ronstadt, Julie London, Odetta, Skin, Patty Griffin, Dar Williams, Sarah Vaughan, Carly Simon, Cassandra Wilson, Gillian Welch, Christine Collister, Sarah McLachlan, India Arie, Ani DiFranco, Iris DeMent, Erykah Badu and the list goes on and on and everyone else will have their own equivalents.

It's really has made me reappreciate just how lucky we are to have all this wonderous music at our fingertips.
