Top 7 Remaing Fixtures Against Each Other: Home And Away

I think because we have dropped so many points already this season we have now been forced into having to win most of those games, well at least get 8-10 points from the possible 15 in my opinion.

We by far have the hardest run in.

Is it just me who thinks that having many of these games away from home is a positive?

Firstly, because every away game is a tough game - so far we've had to battle tough away games with tough home games. Now we have tough away games but a few 'easier' home games. This allows us to do a few things, we can rotate the squad a little more, meaning we are much fresher for the away games than we have been. I also think that our game suits teams trying to play, and who tries to play more than the top teams at home?

You could argue that we should go on to get 25 points from our last 9 home games, given our form there. That takes us to 66 points with a potential 30 to play for away from home. I think 19 from 30 would give us the league. It's all hypothetical of course, but it's not painting a terrible picture. Starting with a win at Swansea!

If we keep our best 11 fit we shouldnt have problems....only concern is when one of our main squad players are out injured, we dont have quality back up....Milner is only player who can fit in...with Jovetic/richards/Aguero having fitness issues, our reserves squad looks fragile....so lots of pressure on main squad to pla back to back tournament with same intensity... but again positive is that our main squad is simply the best

Another way of looking at this, is that if we go to Arsenal and get a point, it's two points they need to make up elsewhere. We beat Chelsea at our place (and we usually do), and that's a 6 point swing. Those two teams are the only ones challenging for the title in my opinion. They will also drop points away from home, so reasonable results from the other tough away games may be just enough. Spuds and Utd are definitely winnable, so is Newcastle. Draws at Liverpool, and Everton may be more than decent results. We need to win the rest though, starting with Swansea, and hope for a few pleasant surprises happening to our rivals. If Chelsea buy a top striker in January, that would concern me, somewhat, as their lack of firepower is what is causing them to drop points at the moment.

Sure it's already been said, but draws at some of these games is hadly a disaster as long as these are against teams below us, by simply taking points of them and chalking off another fixture.

-- Mon Dec 30, 2013 7:13 pm --

Totally agree with this. Our competitors have had easier home games in the first half of the season. The teams against the top clubs are always more 50/50 irrespective of being home or away, so with our record at home you would be confident of us getting a full complement of 27 points.

Conversely away games against teams scrapping for their lives in full stadiums are never going to be easy, ally that to the fact that you have a lot of home games against rivals and there is more chance of dropping valuable home points.

Bring it on.
