Top Four or final?

Anyone know this: if Liverpool win Europa League, and we finished fourth in the league but did not win the CL, would we still qualify for next season's CL qualifiers?

Taken from SkySports...

UEFA rules stipulate that each association can have a maximum of five clubs in the Champions League for the 2016/17 season, meaning if Manchester City win this season's competition and Liverpool win the Europa League, the fourth-place side will have to drop out, provided Manchester City and Liverpool do not finish in the top four.

Ah...

So if we finish 4th without winning the CL, we qualify for next year's CL qualifiers even if Liverpool win the EL.

That's okay then.

If we win the CL, it makes no difference to me where we finish from 2nd-17th, but obviously the club would disagree with financial implications. I wouldn't be thrilled at finishing outside the top 4 but if we win the CL, we've qualified - job done. If you'd asked us City fans at the start of the season whether they'd rather finish with 2 trophies, including the CL, and outside the top 4 or finish in the top 4 with a League Cup, most would have said 2 trophies.

A CL and League Cup double is up there with the best of seasons, regardless of league position and some of our below par performances.
