Top ten albums of all time

Must confess that I find it really hard to choose just a top ten. Top of the list is easy though because my favourite album has remained unchanged since the late 70's:
Led Zeppelin: Physical Graffiti.

For the purposes of today's list I have allowed only one album per band (otherwise I'd probably just end up with multiple Zep and VH entries) and studio albums only i.e. not live albums or compilations.
Led Zeppelin: Physical Graffiti
David Bowie: Ziggy Stardust
Van Halen: Women and Children First
Aerosmith: Rocks
The Who: Who's next
Kiss: Destroyer
Boston: Boston
Rainbow: Rising
Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here
Fleetwood Mac: Rumours

And here's another ten, any of which might find their way into to the above list on another day:
Queen: Sheer Heart Attack
Rush: Moving Pictures
Bruce Springsteen: Born in the USA
Yes: The Yes Album
Supertramp: Crime of the Century
Starz: Violation
Angel: Sinful
Guns n Roses: Appetite for Destruction
Deep Purple: Machine Head
John Mellencamp: The Lonesome Jubilee

Any list featuring Queen should be automatically removed but your very last choice makes up for it. Love that album, especially through headphones.

That's probably why he asked if it was bluemoon's favourite album.

Yeah...missed that bit. Must be the old eyes.

Stone Roses are a very much Marmite band though. You have to be of a certain age to really think they should have any album in any top 10. There really are hundreds of albums that are better than any of their turgid offerings. But hey...one man's meat etc etc.

I'm a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but in this case, no, you're just wrong. It was the greatest album of all time.

You should stick to filthy stories and alternative accounts and usernames because your music taste sounds like it's fucking awful.

Thundercunt.

But you live in Hull and therefore have an invalid opinion.

I am off the opinion that it is impossible to define the 10 best albums of all time. My own list changes from day to day. Many of my favorites have been mentioned already, but setting aside my personal taste (a little) I think one criteria for getting on the list should be to have created something musically new. Realizing it is hard to decide who are first with new types of music I think that the following could go into contention:

Kraftwerk - could be one of several albums, but example Radioaktivität
Jean Michel Jarre - also different candidates, for example Oxygene
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells (he was only 17 when he made it!)
Bud Powell - The Amazing Bud Powell Vol. 1 (Jazz but what a piano player, truly amazing)
Beatles - again different possibilities, perhaps Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

There's something I've seen on Facebook where you list the 12 albums that have stayed with you over the years. So maybe not your current favourites but those that you still enjoy listening to and are still important to you today
