That's why in the last 13 years you've lost £214 million?

well whatever the figure ....16.5m a season isnt a bad outlay for all that silverware eh?

Quite amazed by how much we've spent, even if you take out the last 2 years it's still a frightening amount spent on mostly rubbish.

The problem with this info is that, back when the premiere league started you could buy a top top player for much less money...inflation has rocketed, especially recently...consider that we spent 20 odd mil on lescott, and back in 1996 Alan Shearer was bought for £15mil....so if the prices had been the same then rags would have probly spent near to a billion, becuase for years they were the team that spent the most money on players

well it's hard for me to come up with a conversion rate.

hahahahaha

Part of the answer is, in Pompey's case, to regard the reported figures with extreme suspicion.

and the dodgy ownership deals

Spurs have spent a fair bit haven't they? I suppose that's what happens though when you sell your squad and then buy it all back a year later.

the thing I find amazing is that Spurs and Liverpool have spent in total £200m more than Arsenal over a sustained period of time and yet they have very little to show for it.

The difference is though that Arsenal and Liverpool spent quite a lot more in wages than Spurs. That and because Arsenal and Liverpool have been in the CL season after season they dont have to overbid for players, they buy a lot of players on the relatively cheap but then go and pay them an insane amount in wages.

Wenger has a natch for finding deals though, RVP around 3m.. Rosicky 7m, Fabregas of course free.. In the past he rarely went over 5-7m for a player. But still they have been paying out almost 2x Spurs wage bill, add 40-50m a season to Arsenals transfer cost and you will see how much these players really cost compared to Spurs. Its not as black and white as the press make it out to be.

Ooherr first post.

Nice transfer stats btw good read.
I thought Smalling was more expensive btw?

Jérôme Boateng (Hamburger SV) 11.250.000 £
Chris Smalling (Fulham) 7.200.000 £

I realise Boateng is the better defender but with the home grown rule coming in to effect the Smalling deal looks better than I previously thought. I think some of those prices are fucked up though, cus my mate always tells me Tevez cost £40m, and I didn't realise we got so much for Sturridge and Elano.
