We got into this position by fully utilising our squad. Yes certain players are out of form but like with Bernardo they need to have an opportunity to play to get back into their groove. Say what you want about Sterling but he will get his form back you don’t just become shit overnight (with the exception of joe hart).

We are talking about Sterling, mendy, Torres, ake, fern, Jesus, cancelo. 5 of these would start for spurs tomorrow these are good players who pep believes in. Add in other likely starts such as Bernardo,gundogan, Dias etc we have more than enough quality to beat spurs.

I am going tomorrow to support the team no matter what side he picks and to enjoy myself. If we end the season with ‘just’ the prem it’s still been a brilliant season especially considering our start.

We need our players 100% for PSG they are a top quality side. Whoever wins between us and PSG wins the champs league imo this is a huge opportunity for the club, pep and the players.

Exactly,should have played the kids from the off if we didn't intend giving it our best.Fully allow our first team squad to concentrate on the CL and League.

That's a poor argument, Fantasy.

First, it always makes sense to progress in a cup competition, because you have a squad, and not just 13-14 players, and because you want the squad players to feel that they belong and to know that they will have chances to show what they are capable of. What's the point of having a great squad if you don't secure enough games for talented players you have paid serious money to sign in the first place?

Second, Pep can't know back in November and December that the final will be 3 days before a CL semi.

Third, why gift Manure a cup final?

Fourth, is it really impossible that squad players perform well and win?

If someone asked me would you want to win the Carbao Cup or qualify for the Champs league final despite the fact i despise UEFA and everything it stands for , i would take the Champs league final and i think Pep will do the same. If the Carabao final been played on the original day in February it wouldnt be an issue , but at the business end of the season i dont think Pep has been given much choice. If there was a preference from our owners i am sure they also want Big Ears.

Mendy didn't embarrass himself against Chelsea. No more than anyone else. I don't think he's good enough for us, but that's another question.
Don't want to keep getting on Raheem's case — he's had enough criticism — but he actually got much more of the ball than Torres on the other side. Torres was barely being passed to. And Raheem really didn't do anything with it. I obviously hope he'll come good again, but this is certainly not the match to find out.
 
For me we need to rest our best players Dias Foden Kdb Gundogan Rodri maybe Zina and Walker too! Who ever left pick from that..

Rewatched the Chelsea game the other day..

At the moment he a fucken liability. Don't want to see him in the team till next season.

Wouldn't be surprised if he is off over the window.
 
The team selection is very problematic due to sterling, Torres, Mendy etc being in such woeful form. Sterling has been a passenger for weeks and looks like his head is up his arse.
Simply put it this trio starts we may struggle, also 4 games on the spin now we've conceded the 1st goal, again do that tomorrow I doubt we will win.
Fuck rotation.
 
I fully undersrand the need for rotation, and I that it's been a long season, however.

  • We have seen before at the business end of the season mixing and matching the team, especially to the extent of 7-8 changes per game then it can unbalance the team, even one as fluid as ours. Changing 4 defenders amd all 3 forwards in the leeds game and chepsea saw us lose rythm badly and took us at peast a half to settle.
  • After our ropey start where we rotated because of the lack of a big preseason we, partly though injury we had a settled team that hardly changed bar maybe 1-2 tgat went on an unbepievable unbeaten run with hardly any signs of tireness.
  • Some players who are out of tge team a few games need a few games to settle back in, Sergio, Berny for example, but so is sterling and mendy, we don't have a few games for player to get into their groove at this point of tge season, if they cannot return an fire on all cylinders straight away, well then for now use them as subs.
  • Torres you cannot rwally blame, he is in his setttling in season and not played in a setttped postion of run of games, but again unless enforced this, the most vital part of the season isn't time to bed in a player, same for Ake not his fault about injury but if zinch rested would rather him LB tbf than mendy
  • 20 odd games from Dec -Feb we practically plqyed non stop the same defence, midfield, forward line shirley they can go the next 10.
Play our strongest 11, atm that doesn't include sterling, torres or mendy workhorses and young hungry players like foden, berny, zinch, dias, laporte(with stone banned), gundo, jesus, walker, cancelo can cope and are probably relishing this run in.

To clarify though I understand why he may rest players tomorrow, but disagree with changing 2 thirds of the team.

Also I find the dismissing this as not as important as PSG because it's just the league cup wrong, any cup is a bonus and be embraced,

I'd put Torres as a striker.

There's a hint of Sergio in him in that position.

Nothing to do with the super league , we will be fucked over by the ref or var against PSG. That’s why I would play my strongest team in the cup final that we have got to , not the one we may get to .
