Tottenham vs City

The lunchtime kick off means it will be a great first away-day. Plenty of time afterwards to have a few in my favourite drinking place on the planet - Camden Town. Any blues who love their music should make their way there - the punky/hippy vibe is hard to explain but it's magic with dozens of great boozers - a great place to start the season.
I'll be there with a big Spud ( I don't get all the hate for a club so similar to ourselves ) and win or lose it'll be a top night. After suffering all the years of mainly lows, let's not get ahead of ourselves and just enjoy the ride.

it was at Maine Road!

sullivan came for the corner, ran into campbell, the ball dropped for huckerby who scored and the goal was disallowed!

Yeah your right, good memory, i am getting on a bit

i was at the game, first and only time i ever sat in the family stand at MR

we dominated the game then they nicked it in the 89th minute!

I have a great memory with anything city related, shame its not so sharp on other things!

We always struggle against Spurs, and this season isn't going to be any easier either. Spurs are a very, very good side, and playing them first up isn't ideal, our side won't have "gelled" and there's every possibility we won't have made all our signings as there will still be three weeks of the transfer window left.

I'd take the point if offered it now, I don't think many sides will pick up a win at White Hart Lane this season.

As for season prospects, Chelsea and the Scum will be in the Top 4, I'm certain of that, so I believe the remaining 2 Champion's League spots will be down to us, Arsenal and Spurs to fight for. Villa aren't quite strong enough, and Liverpool are in need of seeveral seasons of rebuilding before they will be a Champion's League qualifier again. Everton? Don't make me laugh!

I think with our squad strengthening, and with a full season of Mancini (and pressumably without a run of results like we had in October/November) we'll be in the top 4, and I have think Arsenal's experience will be enough to see them make it too. I think Spurs will finish 5th, not a million miles away from 4th, but not quite able to qualify for the Champion's League again. As for their prospects in the Champion's League this season, I can see them making the group stage, although they'll want to avoid Fenerbahce, Sampdoria and Dynamo Kiev (if only because they'll be in the middle of their season and Spurs will have just started theirs). I can't see them getting through the group though, the teams in the top 2 pots are very, very strong. They'll likely finish third and end up dropping into the Europa League, which they'll have a decent chance of winning (alongside ourselves) as long as Twitcher actually treats it with some kind of respect.

actually quite horrified you put that. we havent had an undeserved sense of arrogance for years. nor have we ever acted like we are gods gift to football, and we dont say EVERY friggin season "this is the one we'll beat our near rivals" despite forever being their lapdogs (to be fair we have been uniteds for a few years, but we never were so cocky). bar the last maine road derby, the game i most enjoyed was the spurs 4-3.

I think playing them first is a good thing. We know how they will set up and how they will play.

Catflap Redknapp won't know our first XI or our formation so he'll have to guess obv (he doesn't even know who will be first choice keeper), but we will pretty much know their first XI and their set up.

There's a Social Club near White Hart Lane Station that lets in Away Fans. Cheap prices, Food etc.

Early start.

Worst away game last season - shite performance, shite result, shite view from the lower tier and didn't serve beer at half time. The Victoria was ok after the game.

I prefer up the road abit towards Chalk farm, that said I'll be hitting the world famous Ain't Nothing But club in Soho. If you like your music get yourself in there.

It was the most comprehensive defeat but I'd say the loss at Hull was a worse performance.

I'm struggling to see more than a point out of our opening two Matches. Tottenham will almost definitely beat us and Liverpool will be looking to impress under Hodgson. His Fulham sides were difficult to play against.

spuds don't have the financial state to stay at the top

What are you basing this on? Or are you just guessing? You couldn't be more wrong about that. Spurs financial state is excellent at present. Don't post about something you don't know about.

Because we are comfortably capable of beating any of the sides in the pot. Sampdoria are probably the strongest of the sides, and their manager has already come out and said he will be happy as long as he doesn't draw us. In my truly humble opinion, we are the team to beat.
ypur allowed to dream , is it ok if i say i think you dreaming or would that be an insult?

That's like me saying to someone who thinks City are going to win the league this season is dreaming. Is that an insult too?

-- Tue Jul 13, 2010 8:06 pm --

What you on about? they're probably next in line for richest owners after Chelsea?

really?

didn't see them go for silva, did you?

infact i haven't seen them linked with a player over the price of 20million.

So if every player we try to sign isn't over 20 million, we're not well off financially? You're an idiot. No other club can afford what City can, stop wearing your blue tinted specs. Spurs are one of the most financially stable clubs in the league, and in Europe. We've been in the top 20 for turnover and profits consistently for the last 5/6 years, without CL football.
