Tour De France 2011

Chapeau Andy, fair play after all the bitching... Contador has gone now it would seem, big effort from Cadel he is the best time trialer of those up there so if still fav and Tommy Voeckler what an effort, think he will suffer for that tomorrow though...

Hopefully Cav wont be kicked out on the timing... that was one beast of a stage, over 6hrs of riding over those mountains

Gutted for Roche after the break away in the final 10 km he lost 5 minutes to Andy S and was in the same group as him at the time. Take note if your going on the attack dont go so far out when its a uphill finish. Great day in the Tour Tommy holds onto the yellow. I will expect Frank to attack tomorrow but I wonder how much that took out of Andy.

Andy Schleck has probably won the tour today and Contador proved he's crap without the help of drugs?

Does anyone know if Mark Cavendish was eliminated today or not?
They kept saying he could be and never mentioned whether he had or not at the end.

Just found out he wasn't.

They won't! Hope they launch a counter-attack to bring him back a bit. Will make tomorrow's stage a bit more epic than the epic stage it's already set to be! I've gone off Schleck this year with his moaning about dangerous downhills like a big girl's blouse.

This. I liked Schleck last year but yesterday he was being a complete woman saying it wasn't fair that people had more balls than him.
Totally agree, but I'd rather he won than Evans. Very good tactics by Leopard Trek today, a classic tdf stage.

Wouter Weylandt has only been dead for three months.

Even as a fan of the thrilling descents, I thought yesterday's was pretty stupid, very, very fast, extremely long, on tight uneven roads, with concrete blocks and metal piping, tree lined so they couldn't read the corners ahead.

My reckoning is that Andy needed another minute. He will be in pieces by the summit of Alpe D'Huez, and is a poor time-trialist. Vokler is the man of the tour but seeing him at the peak he is surely spent too. Frank needs to equal what Andy did today and get at least thirty seconds over Evans, otherwise I'm pretty sure he (Evans) will get away on the time trial.

Is (moody moaning) Andy that poor at the TT though? Last year all we heard was how he would need several minutes over Contador going into the Time Trial such were his limitations in that discipline, yet from memory didn't he put in a very credible performance with Alberto in the end only taking around 35 seconds out of him to scrape home? In the same way that he's gone against convention these last two days to show that he can do a decent descent, I don't think he'll be as weak in the time trial as is being predicted.

Cadel does look to be in the best position, but he had to do a lot of work towards the end of the stage, certainly in comparison to say Frank, he may pay for that tomorrow. Anyway I'm sulking as my Spaniards gave up the ghost today, although with nothing to lose tomorrow one of them could shake things up for the others a little - it'll all come down to who has the power of recovery.

You quoted the wrong person there although I did agree to the post.

Thought Andy decended very well yesterday, maybe a good psychological move that they all thought they'd catch him on the decent.

Frank S to win this stage today. He wont want his kid brother winning the Tour before him. If he can pull back the time on him today he is the slightly better Time trailer out of the 2 and could pull out a cap. I feel by the end of the tour it could be seconds between the top 3 riders.
