There is another ITT next wednesday that is 32km long and features 2 cat2 climbs.

When i first started watching properly i thought TTs were a little boring but the more i watch them the more fascinating they become. I loved the TTT earlly in the race.

I stand corrected, sorry Leighton, i agree, too many TTs grrrrrrrr ;-)

However my point about Froome stands, he's worked bloody hard to be that good at the TT.

The way Froome is climbing too he could take even more time on the mountain TT. Surely a TT over 2 cat2 climbs is only really for the GC contenders as the others will just hope to make the cut off time.[/quote]

Very true mate, I would say the other GC contenders all expect him to as well after today.

There is so much to being a good TT rider and Sky have made great inroads in this, technology and body position being things everyone can do and work on, but they dont. I remember Wiggo giving an interview last year and he was saying how moving your elbow just a small amount can result in much better performance. The wind tunnel has taught them so much more. Lotto are using a dimpled bike, this works like a golf ball, that the air travels over it better. (a dimpled golf ball travels further than a smooth one)

What are the main areas a cyclist should be good at to win the GC? Is TT number 1 and climbing number 2 or the other way round? You can't lose as much time over a TT if you're shit at it than you would if you were shit at climbing. Therefore it's got to be climbing number 1.

I'd love to see something different like the top 10 GC contenders setting off together on a mass ascent of Mont Vontoux! How awesome would that be?

Im sure i read somewhere but dont quote me on this but the Criterium Du Dauphine one year had a TT up Mt Ventoux

Now that would be interesting i reckon but not for the sprinters lol

The fastest time so far recorded has been that of Iban Mayo in the individual climbing time trial of the 2004 Dauphiné Libéré: 55' 51".

As i have been watching the Tour this year i have been following Team Skys live chat. Its lead by a guy on the team bus and is very interesting to follow. Obviosly its pro Sky but its there site so what do you expect. Reading back today they reckon the new TT bike they have gives them a real advantage in TTs. He didnt say further but when the TTT was on the commentators were talking how Lottos new bike had improved there performance quite considerably.

-- Wed Jul 10, 2013 8:12 pm --

All of you give it a rest please and discuss the TdF without making completely unfounded accusations about doping and telling each other to fuck off.

A blind man with a stick can see who the problem is here.
A troll with no interest in cycling is ruining the thread for no good reason.
If the moderators did their job properly, then nobody would need to tell that troll to fuck off.
Or is the Code of Conduct a moveable feast nowadays?

De Niro gets away with it, must be.

???? fill me in fella, what have I done now :)
