It was heartbreaking. Brutal, but that's the Tour, utterly merciless, no "cadeaux" ever. Love it. I was screaming the house down hoping he'd hold on to win the breakaway, then again for the sprint. It all conspired against him in the end - the 3rd group chasing down Roglic, the time bonuses for winning the stage. Being chased by a group of chasseurs royals. Brewing into a great Tour. Visma not looking unbeatable all of a sudden, Dumoulin lacking the final edge, Bernal rode very, very well today but noticeable he has zero support in the final group. Pogocar is Slovenian TT champ so this could all come down to final weekend.Half a wheel.
I'm surprised he had anything left in the tank at the end.

Another great day’s racing. I was flicking between the TDF and F1. Perfectly timed red flag allowed me to watch the last 10km. It was exhausting to watch and heartbreaking for Hirschi - so close.

Pogacar in the mix creates an interesting dynamic. If he picks up a few more seconds on Roglic here and there, Roglic will have to look to pick up some time in the Alps.
Bernal seems to be riding more easily and Sivakov is getting back to fitness while taking it fairly 'easy' to save himself for the third week.
Some of the Colombians will be looking forward to stage 17 at altitude.
The third week should be a classic as long as the riders stay upright and healthy.

Flat stage tomorrow with a chance of echelons towards the ends. However, according to the forecast, wind speeds look pretty tame.
If there is a boring stage at the Tour, not to fear, in the evenings on Eurosport they are showing the Tirreno-Adriatico 8 stage race. The stages are primarily lumpy and should be ridden aggressively as it favours rouleur and there is one very good MTF. A number of riders using the race as a tune-up for the likes of the Giro, Vuelta and one-day races (including, Flanders/RVV). Such as, Froome, Thomas, S Yates, MdvP, Nibali, Fuglsang and Vlasov.

Interesting to see who if anyone tests positive for Covid today. Hopefully none of the main contenders, but seemed to be plenty of opportunities to get it with some fans not observing social distancing and not wearing masks.
ITV4's coverage seemed to have some inside information and gave Ineos the all clear but there were some confirmed cases in other teams.

2 or more from anywhere in the team, support staff, riders etc and the team is out.
Let's hope this doesn't effect any of the GC contenders.

Laughable.
Christian Prudhomme (guy in charge of the TDF) tests positive. Spent the day with the French PM a couple of days ago.
All remaining riders (166) cleared to continue.

Good sprint yesterday with Caleb winning. Sagan relegated due to barging WVA in the sprint. Bennett still in green and given Sagan’s troubles he’s looking good for keeping it.
Shortest ever longest stage today at 218km. Lumpy profile with two cat 4s, a cat 3 and a cat 2 which could be a good stage for a breakaway.
