Toure's agent speaks out (again)

Being a "legend" isn't about ability or achievements, it's about creating that emotional bond with the fans.

Yaya had that bond but he and he alone chucked it away by being a lying **** who doesn't give a fuck about the club and has proven that on numerous occasions. The only thing that matters to Yaya, is Yaya.

Weekly is overdoing it
You've been reading far too many rag tops who have a penchant for hyperbole, he did it several times in four years, hardly great never mind legendary

I'd even put Rosler above him, sometimes

Several times in four years???. Its a pity mate you never got to watch or never appreciated what an extraordinary talent we had at the club. He did more than several moments in one game against Newcastle let alone the 5-0 against Leicester, West Ham,Villa, Liverpool, Oxford, Southend, Boro etc

You don't know me Frank but I have been a regular since 68. I saw him throughout all those games, but eight games (IE several) in four years is well short of legendary status on my measuring system
Your entitled to your opinion I just don't share it. Younger fans, that's younger than me lol, tend to overate him as they had nothing else

I don't doubt your a regular squirty and I do not doubt, for the likes of me, Kinkladze will have a special status, being 20 when he signed and as you say little else to hang your hat on.

I think he played a lot better than you suggest, hence the reason a club like Ajax, top champs league team at the time, were prepared to sign a player relegated to Div 2.

For me it was that ability and the loyalty he showed. It was dire at the time and no one could of blamed him if he left, but he stayed to the detriment of his own career. Its a bit cringeworthy looking back but I remember sitting in front of his car begging him to stay after the Reading game. He will always be my favourite player. But its all about opinions.

Indeed it is, but I believe it's where you have indicated
At twenty you had to put up with a lot of shit. Seeing Walsh and Quinny go for the likes of Creany and Bradbury. Is it any wonder blues latched onto Kinky.
However, like you often point out in the media thread, I think your blue tinted specs and the ravages of time have raised his contribution above the level he actually performed.
I don't expect to change people's perception of him, but he is not, and could never be a player at Yaya's level. Although, to be honest, I have no affinity to either, I see neither as heroes or legends, I much prefer the likes of Zab

I think Yaya is probably our greatest ever player, when you consider his contribution at key moments in our teams recent successes.

I agree Kinkladze never had that influence on the team and was not at the same level as Yaya but similarly you would probably agree Zaba is not at that level either and yet neither of us consider Yaya as a legend.

We look for different qualities in our legends and although we view it differently the qualities you probably pinpoint in Zaba such as loyalty, humble disposition, human qualities, I see in Kinkladze.

Its a fair point looking back the blue tinted specs come out but I still have never seen a player so effortlessly glide past challenges, like against Newcastle when surrounded by five, like Kinkladze did. Just breathtaking.

Just to be clear, Zabba is a legend whatever criteria you choose to go with. :-)

I could not agree more. What I like more than anything about Zabba is how he has improved. I can remember how he would constantly commit himself, get booked, give away sill free kicks. Through shear force of personality, commitment he has dragged himself to the highest level. He is a credit to himself.

Biggest misconception on here that Pep bounced him out of Barcelona. He wanted him to stay. Pep would find a place for him. The team would be a lot more compact off the ball under Pep so he wouldn't have as much ground to cover as he does now trying and failing to play box to box. He would have a smaller zone to work in under Pep and he would still have someone either side of him as he would most likely spend most of the game in a back 2 or 3 or in a 3 in front of the back 2 or 3. He'd be fine probably for another season and given we can't change 7 or 8 players in the summer, he'd probably be seen as one worth keeping.

As for his agent, he's a tool and he always publicly contemplates Yaya's future. I wouldn't take it as confirmation that Pep is on his way, although that would seem very likely anyway.

He has one year left on his contract after this season. He would need to be played sparingly and do you really think Yaya would accept being a rotation option instead of the first name on the team sheet that he currently is? We can either sell him this summer where we can get something for him and replace him with a younger player or we keep him and he sulks for not being "respected" or some bollocks like that and he walks away on a free that summer. It makes business sense and football sense to move him on.

Score - Sometimes he does, when he does it is usually outstanding goal
Tackle - Lol
Sweep up defensively - I oonce saw him do that
Control the midfield - If yuou mean from a match point of view then it is usually the opposition who control it when Yaya is playing
Attacking - Yes yes yes
Creative - Yes
Motivates - Not sure about that
Tea - I hear Pep will be brought in to do that anyway

Yaya is a luxury we can afford (Like Kinkladze) and I am sure he is more influential than most think. I like him tbh, despite his dickhead agent

If guardiola comes, y aya will be on his bike.
I just hope for the sake of all those who think he is a city legend, that he doesn't start badmouthing the club as he may well do. As for those who do not associate his agents quotes with Toure , get a grip please, he is his best mate.
I think he has been a very good player for us, but he was not good enough for bar a, kidding ourselves if we think that.
