Tourists

Come to think about it, tourists coming for a 1 off game when there is plenty off tickets available isn't the problem, it's the sense of some impending flood of glory hunting knobs from Surrey turning up after getting bored with Chelsea or Manure, that's what I don't like. Whether that will actually happen though I don't know.
^^^ THIS!

Tourists for the odd game where tickets are available are fine. I've been abroad, and (probably like others on here) watched matches such as at the Nou Camp - so I can't really complain about tourists.

My concern are not tourists - but the gloryhunting bandwagon from Essex or abroad like the aforementioned poster talks about.

I can't believe some of the comments I've read in this thread, I really can't.

We're watching some of the best football we've ever seen our team play and some people are moaning about a few "out of towners" coming along to enjoy the ride with us. Really? Think about the message these people will take back to their homes if they encounter the subverted bitterness that some on here are showing them. Is this how you want us to be viewed around the world? If it is I think it's time for a reality check boys and girls. We've waited our whole lives for City to be a decent team; it's been something we could only ever dream about in the past (40 years for me); and now that we're capable of winning trophies and fighting for the title some of us are moaning about new fans and "tourists" turning along to a few games and spending their money at our club. Success brings with it increased attention, which now-a-days comes from all over the world; you might not agree with it or like it, but I'm afraid that's the way it is. Just tell me how you feel when you go on holiday and see some local wearing one of those tea towels that they wear in Salford? I can tell you without hesitation that I truely, truely hate it. Now tell me how you'd feel if you saw them wearing our glorious blue instead. Wouldn't it be nice to let the rags feel some of that burning pain that we've had to endure for so long whilst they're supposed to be enjoying themselves on their hols? We've got to look at the bigger picture here. Aren't we supposed to be trying to increase our global revenue? And the first signs of us doing so sees some of our fans spitting their blue dummies out. Ffs, I say lets accept their money, maybe even be nice to them and make them feel welcome, after all we all started being blue at some time or another didn't we?

And as for our club turning into the swamp, never going to happen, we've got more class than that, or at least I thought we had.

Quoted for greatness.

Embarrassing.

Do you think our foreign owners would have purchased us just to spend a lot of money for no return? These guys are the real deal. These 'tourists' are apart of what we have to accept moving forward. It's a small sacrifice for watching football that we never thought would exist in our lifetime.

We should accept these tourists, they drive revenue and would spent more then most season ticket holders per visit. It's really up to the club and fans to make a system that works for both set of supporters.

This was always a part of the bigger plan, things like the Poznan are what seperate us from other supporter groups. I hope we can continue having great atmosphere builders in the future and the works.

Some of the replies in this thread of jingoistic at best and flat out racist at worst. I'm sorry we all couldn't be born within a two mile radius of Maine Road.

As long as these "tourists" respect the club and fans enough to learn about its history and immerse themselves in what it means to be a City fan, then they should be made welcome, nay encouraged.

Fifa playing, bandwagon jumping cunts can get to fuck, however.

how will we become like the rags?

why do millions of people worldwide support Liverpool? it isnt for success, it's because they buy into the history, which is what Liverpool plug shamelessly.

We win trophies, we plug our club in our own way with our own ethos, do our worldwide charity commitments and give foreign fans reasons to associate with our club and many of them will come for the right reasons.

the reason rags are rags is because that's how their club behaves and portrays itself, you reap what you sow.

Success breeds popularity! because of how man city played, featured with international and world class footballers, charismatic manager its unavoidable that the public will drawn and grown their interest towards the club. i can't see this as a bad thing... this is what every organization is dream for. popularity brings money, money brings success

back 2 rows of 120 had a fair few empty seats until a group of polish lads turned up decked in city scarf's and taking pictures, but enjoying themselves, one kept crying out aufidersen every time hulk fell over and citeeee. They joined in chanting where they could and celebrated every goal, so I don't see the problem with having these type of fans filling the seat if the regular season ticket holders round there could not make the kick off time or just couldn't be arsed coming, it's money coming back into the club and if these lads are settling in Manchester them choosing us over the rags is alright by me

This may be a bit narrow minded but a tourist is a tourist. Not a fan of the club, In my opinion at least. I am not going to pretend it's a good thing for people to turn up now we're good when they never gave a shit about us just a few years ago.
Thats what happens when a team isnt shit anymore...Its a good thing for the club. Why would tourists give a shit about a shit club?
