Towns & Cities that are F----d.

Bridlington was grim. Got there, parked up, got into a fight, saw some drug deals, returned to car, left. Worst 30 mins of my life.

Daventry is another noteworthy mention.

Also agree with Hull, Barnsley and Carlisle. Done a bit of work in Hull and the Tesco's was robbed each and every time I was in there, it was just the norm for locals to walk in and take trivial items like chocolate bars and walk out. A lot of poverty around there.

Barnsley as previously mentioned, a lot of travellers and also very dubious family relationships. Even other shitty areas of Yorkshire call them 'backward Barnsley'. I worked with a total nutcase of a bloke from the Cudworth area of Barnsley. That was a fucking sight for sore eyes seeing him try and communicate with some fella from a village near Nottingham. Every other word was 'love' or 'duck', they gave up trying to communicate with each other in the end as they didn't have a clue what each was saying.

Only been to Carlisle on one occasion as a very good friend lived round there for a few years. He's got tales a plenty from round there, very very questionable inbred behaviour. There was certainly an undercurrent in the place when out on the piss, a real nasty little shithole of a place. The villagers on the outskirts of there make Wigan folk look well to do.
Don't agree with all you said, although you make some good observations. Coming from the Manchester area we've lived in a village on the outskirts of Carlisle for 32 years and we've always found the locals to be OK. Visiting the area on only one occasion isn't really a good qualification to judge the place. There are some very odd people wherever you may go in this country.

Fair point, and also refreshing to see somebody on the forum express a different opinion without the need to call the other person a dickhead or throw a wobbler. Hats off to you, sir.

Thanks for that. TBH I've never got my head around why some come on here to be offensive towards fellow Blues. It's a forum about opinions .....or it should be. Each to there own, I suppose.

I like watching this guys videos.
This one he visits Gary, Indiana. Where the Jacksons grew up (he visits their house)
Gary really is fucked, wouldn't fancy living there but houses are dirt cheap (free even) if you fancy it.

Now that's interesting, because I checked it out a couple of years back on the internet. I swear that for years I thought that Gary Indiana was a B movie actor. I'm not shitting you.
It's officially one of the most depressed towns in the entire U.S.A. (along with places like East St Louis, and New Haven). What's interesting is that you can find, through these online estate agents, what appear to be quite salubrious residences in what appear to be nice leafy streets for about $60,000 to $70,000. Houses that seem to be in good nick, in decent neighbourhoods. There are such areas, apparently. Just nobody wants to live in Gary, Indiana.

I will go for 2,both infested by Scouse overload, Winsford and Skelmersdale.
If ever there was an appropriate saying for Towns that desperately need investment its, you cannot polish a turd without it still looking like a turd.

Didn't a load of Jocks move down there to work in the steel industry? I think we bumped into a few Corby based Celtic fans on the way back from the CL game at Parkhead.
There used to be a huge Steel works there, they made tubes. Loads of sweats but I actually like the place in a weird way, worked there for several years and met some great people

I think the majority of us a working class lads and lasses. I don't like describing anywhere as a shithole. Most of what you mean are poor areas by wealth alone. Some of the best people in the world tend to come from such backgrounds. They just haven't had the head start that wealth affords those fortunate by birth. Middlesbrough probably breeds the toughest lads in England, along with Carlisle. The scousers got decimated by Thatcher but you can't go anywhere without seeing the adventurous spirit they possess like the Irish. Don't knock these areas, we are all the same, just trying to make our way in the world. As Mancunians I think we are fortunate that we have had a wealth of talent musically and so sometimes can look down on those who don't really deserve it.
