Trailer Time...

I never said it wasn't a near accurate adaptation, I said it was a poor one

he did a better job at 300 tbf

also for decent and also near accurate adaptations I could list Sin City, Scott Pilgrim, Snowpiercer, From Hell, Kick Ass and My Firend Dharmer a long way ahead of watchmen.

Even a history of violence, which they drastically changed in parts still is a better adaptation of a grapic novel compared to that hack snyder.

you only have to read his coments trying to belittle SW which show his complete lack of knowledge of the lore and world he so desperately wanted to make a film in.
Why was Watchmen poor though, it followed the story of the book, graphically it was spot on as well? What more could he have done to make it better for you?

Is it just me ? I've flicked through the last few pages of trailers and there is bugger all that appeals to me.

Panel to panel it is quite faithful well bar the missing squid :-) but the charactors in the novel are not heroes they are flawed, cruel, barely capable and as in the film unlikable, yet snyder seems to get them wrong and turns what are essentially inefective brawlers like nite owl into kung-fu masters in a shiny suit , and what should be a hateful **** in rorschard he turns him into some anti-hero

As I said a faithful adaptation panel by panel in the main, but I feel he misses the heart of tge novels point

Fair point I didn’t think of it like that tbh

The only thing I agree with is him giving the characters super powers. The squid thing took it away from the main base of the story, so I'm glad it went.

But, at the same time, giving them superpowers gave them bigger flaws and abuse of their positions or didn't make them any less depressed etc.

I think the adaptation was good enough.

Fairn enough I still think he got Miller right but Moore wrong when it came to putting across their writing, but then Miller gets involved when adaptations are made where Miller normally dismisses or disowns them

And that's a fair point.

Sometimes writers get a bit involved with their own work when it comes to adaptations.

Written pieces should always also the reader to see their own story within a writer's. It's like songs, when we hold on to a song cos of the way we perceive them and that changes when the songwriter tells the world what they actually meant by the song.

Probably because Snyder has never made a decent fipm in his life.

even a rewatch of the watchmen you realise it's a poor adaptation

File him alongside, JJ abrams and Michael Bay for butchering the art of film making and story telling
I think Snyder is a good visual storyteller. The Watchmen credit sequence is an effective example of that (as is the Sucker Punch prologue to a lesser degree). Generally, though, his output hasn’t been great.

Bay, not much of a visual storyteller, tends to bludgeon the audience into submission with excess, though The Rock is great. But then he’ll do something lower key like 13 Hours which is superb.

Abrams is a hack. Peaked with Super 8 and fancied himself as the next Spielberg. He’ll not get anywhere near Spielberg. To be fair, even Spielberg can’t get anywhere near Spielberg anymore…
