Transfer Disapointment

I think pirlo would be a great signing tbh. If only because I want to see a decent city corner kick, its been years.

And there's me thinking we scored the most (or certainly not far off) from set pieces last season.

Only need one or two signings in the midfield and someone out wide. Won't be disappointed if we didn't sign a striker though.

This correct squad isn't deep enough to win the CL. So yes. I'd be disappointed.

Let me ask you this: if we didn't win the CL next season, would you be disappointed?

See this was my thinking when the topic was created... I'm happy with the squad already assembled, and happy with what we have already won.

Sure, the more we win the more we become hungrier for wins, but even if we win fuck all next season my only disappointment would be failure to comply substantially with FFPR (presuming win bonuses from competitions would contribute significantly)

But I could be talking shit and come August, I'm foaming at the mouth to destroy Southampton and continue the success... Maybe I'm still in the Joy stage after the QPR game.

I will be disappointed if we don't sell anyone. Players like RSC etc really need to leave.

Our squad is one of the best in the world and after recent events eg chasing down a seemingly impossible points total and winning in the fashion we did etc the squad will be galvanised by this and are now a team.

Of course there can be improvements but for now just concentrate on selling!

I know that was asked of alky but I will throw my opinion in....I think winning the CL next season is beyond most people's hopes and expectations. But I will be very disappointed if we don't make it out of the group stages and if we don't regularly start making it deep into the competition. We should be considered potential winners every year. That is a long way of saying, yes we need to buy some players. If we want to compete with the very best we need more squad depth. Bobby needs to have faith in everyone in the squad and I think we are still a ways from that.

We need some pace in the final third and we are desperate for a centre back. That's it.

This. TBH I am sure we will buy 2 or 3 players, but we have no need to rush and we are biding our time because everyone wants to fuck us over given the City price factor, and due to ffp we have to be more cirumspect about what we pay (hence trying to move on some deadwood as well)

-- Tue Jun 19, 2012 7:04 pm --

would love to win the CL but above all else I want to retain the Premier League, that has to be our top priority - CL is icing on the cake, but PL is what we do EVERY WEEK

Scratch the Silva effort then for the Dzeko goal v QPR

I wonder if this is a cultural difference. I am a yank and thoroughly enjoyed winning the league this year but for me the CL is the goal to shoot for. Biggest club football competition in the world (and most lucrative). Now that we have reached this level, for me every year our priorities should be

CL
PL
FA Cup
League Cup

in that order.
