Maybe and im ok with that as injuries are a part of the game and if its main players missing then results will suffer.

Completely agree injuries are part of the game, but poor recruitment in the summer window means we lost the title the moment Laporte was ruled out.

The problem for me is Rodri

he’s too slow to play in front of the back 4 on his own (get caught constantly on the counter)

and doesn’t have the creativity to play next to another DM it blunts us too much

Obviously Pep is our best ever manager but everything has a timespan, the concern for me would be getting another one paced midfielder to replace Silva then we are left with Gundo, Rodri and another slow technical player, and our biggest strength in 2017-19 is our biggest weakness

The defence and attack were hit by injuries, the midfield situation is poor planning

Rodri has been outstanding, one of very few positives so far into the season.

Stones, Otto, KDB, Sterling ( to a degree) , Bernardo , David Silva and Mendy are far more to blame, due to loss of form.

You don't think we are on the same page, but I do. I agree Fernandino to defence is a temporary measure. But it's what we planned for him should we have injury. City made a call on a central defensive buy in the Summer. I think we went for the academy option with Fernadinho and Ota as one year bridges until the young players were ready.

I call that transition. You say it's not transition and that the true replacement has yet to come. Transition means we are between the beginning and the end game.

It’s all down to interpretation of words. But I still consider bringing a new signing up to speed (or an academy player) as being part of the transition. If we had simple tactics to adapt to and a less demanding manager, then I might think different. But we can’t just drop them in the team and say “transition complete”. There will still be a considerable drop off in our fluency which will need time to disappear. Only then would I consider us to have transitioned from one era to the next. Let’s just say we are all correct :)

Maybe 6? Even if he was World Class, if he's had 2 career-threatening injuries, we need to be looking at the future. Gareth Bale is consistently injured, but he played more league games last year than total games Mendy's achieved in 2.5 seasons. When he plays, he looks our 3rd best LB.

Yeah so its really unfair to judge him the injury in theory has reduced his pace and mentality after the injury but now is a time to buy and new left back.

No such thing as a transition period, it was made up by rag appeasers who couldn't handle their decline. Teams are constantly evolving, that's the nature of the beast, the key is to evolve while you are successful, we are only a few returning injuries and a couple of players from a hatful of further success. This season the league has gone but we are still in 3 other competitions that we can still win..... !!

Always strengthen when your at the top, twice we have won the title and failed to refresh our team/ squad , and the following season we failed to make a serious challenge.

Vinny moving on has hurt us as well but its all good and well saying we should have done this or that in the summer, it isn't always possible and the players we want might not have been available for numerous reasons.

The CB pairing at the business end of the season should have told you exactly what Pep really thought about Stones and Oto.

Kompany was crocked but still played in front of those two, bacause quite rightly he could be trusted 100% and his magnificent leadership qualities were urgently needed.

Everything can be classed as a transition when you have accumulated 198 points over two seasons and won two Premier League titles, two League Cups, One FA Cup, two Community Shields, all in a period when Liverpool reached two Champions League finals.

We are only suffering from fatigue and bad luck with injuries, compounded by some poor buys which were supposed to pick up the slack and become outright successors, mainly Mendy and Stones.

United have spent the last ten years trying to find successors for players such as Keane, Scholes, Ferndinand and Giggs - the fact is, you cannot find carbon copies for great players - they are great because they have no comparable.

We have the same issue now - Yaya, Vinny, Silva, Fernandinho and Sergio - they are without compare for so many years.

Things will never be the same, but we can couch expectation, just as Real Madrid and Barcelona fans are having to get used to.

City just need an injection of legs and vitality - Pep not only drains himself - he drains the playing staff and even the supporter base - such is his ideals for the way the game should be played.

You cant replenish a squad as easily in modern football, as transfer fees are astronomical. The full back areas have never been resolved during Pep’s tenure. We can start the rebuilding process by buying Haaland, and posing an aerial threat. We have become one dimensional, football styles are cyclical, and Pep needs to evolve a bit. Possession isn’t everything, it is about being ruthless when chances present themselves, and you have to give Klopp credit for what he has done.

We're not in transition. There's nothing Pep or any other manager can do to rectify the current injury crisis we're experiencing.

In that incredible run of 14 straight wins last season, we had Fernandihno, Zinchenko, Kompany, Laporte and Walker playing week in week out. The only one of those who's been able to play in their actual position is Walker. That is where the problem is.

Throw into that the absence of Sane for the entire season, coupled with Aguero's injury, what do people expect?

Our biggest mistake was allowing Kompany to leave without a proper replacement. Like Pep said on the weekend. Next season we'll be better.
