Trent Alexander-Arnold

Doubt we sign him

Not really sure why so many think he's a dickhead though. Seems fairly quiet off the field. Never in any bother. No evidence of him having a bad attitude or being unprofessional. Saw out his contract without downing tools or forcing a move.

All he's guilty of is being pro Liverpool whilst being one of their players. Just as I'd expect our players to be very pro City. Don't see how that makes him a knob. It's not like we haven't had players like that. Hell, we would hate Bernado if he was playing for another club.

All in all he seems like a decent pro.

I'd take him at City if it was a good deal but wouldn't be arsed if he went elsewhere either.
Peps first season, Bernie did a lot of play acting and time wasting when Monaco knocked City out of the CL in that second leg, little twat, he has made up for it since though :-)

Don't rate him at all. Can pass and take a free kick but his defensive capabilities for a right back are absolutely shocking.

Saying all that that though, the meltdown from the dippers would be astonishingly good

Really? Terence Trent Arnold...

I can't believe some on here are excited by the prospect him for us.

Without the fact that he's a muppet of the highest order he's simply not right for us at all tactically, I'm glad he's finally being exposed defensively and shown for what he is, useless and very limited for most teams that simply can't accommodate him into their system.
He only truthfully thrived for the dippers because they played to his biggest strengths, they could mostly to good effect negate his weaknesses too but other teams can't, that's including us and we should stay as far away from this as possible.

He's too crap defensively to be a dependable enough right back and not technically gifted enough to play himself out of trouble, simply not good enough to play in the pockets of space between defence and midfield for us and our needs, if he was stronger that might've helped out but because he lacks strength dribbling and spacial awareness he'd fail miserably.

He's admittedly got a brilliant delivery I'll give him that but he's not technically good enough to play for us, he's just not good enough to play as an inverted fullback for us because of being positionally poor and lacks enough physicality and pace to combat that, he can't play as either a proper right back or central midfielder he lacks everything I've mentioned to do those roles.

Thought it was a big shame when he left the dippers I was definitely hoping he'd sign a massive new 300k+ contract as their golden boy, he can be very good for a team who play 442 as a right sided midfielder or defender if both work hard enough, or as a wingback suited to a 3/5 at the back formation he'd probably thrive where he can depend on others to cover his frailties.

In a back 4 system to accommodate him you actually need to pack out the middle of the park, with high energy/defensive midfielders like the dippers did and just counter everything, if you don't do that then he's just getting exposed big time and completely useless I thought that'd be obvious.

We don't do any of what I've mentioned above tactically and with our creative players we don't have nor do we plan to, have the energetic and boring defensive midfield area that would help him stand out, in truth Real Madrid can actually play to his strengths a lot easier than we could and he's massively flopped there.

Maybe I'm wrong but for me he'd be even more exposed than he has been there if we were dumb enough to make a move for him, personally I don't think we are that stupid so let a Spurs type team be gullible enough sign him on big wages if they lose Pedro Porro.

Perhaps he could end up at arse if captain black gets sacked in the long-term and even thrive if they go to a wingback formation, Chelsea are unlikely to sign him with Reece James already there and better at everything so that seems a non starter, don't think he'd move to the rags because of the backlash off dippers or that rags will want him because of any fan backlash.

Honestly hope that this rumour linking him with us is completely wide of the mark as he'd be a joke of a signing, I'm worried I'd be 100% right in thinking he'd easily up there with Bony as an obvious a disaster signing for us to pursue, this rumour like bent Trent himself at Real Madrid needs binning off never to be seen again...

You seem in denial with that long rant

Would be interesting to see it happen just to see how differently he'd play under Pep and Klopp. Would Pep address his defensive issues? He's turned Nunes into a good RB.

Rumours are undoubtedly bullshit. Who actually believes Arbeloa the interim manager is deciding who to get rid of at Real Madrid? That's just an incredibly ridiuclous suggestion. The amazing thing about it is that somebody made that up and it actually got picked up and circulated.

Some people mistake verbosity for insight.

If he's such a shit player who doesn't suit us at all...we won't buy him.

So if we do go for him, it's because Pep & co. think he is good enough, fits the team or have a vision for the team with him in it. Which has been good enough for me for the past 10 years.

1) Everyone knows Perez decides transfers at Real, so who the manager is actually means nothing.
2) Arebloa is not interim manager, he's just the new head coach. No plans to hire anyone else.

A couple of people have mentioned 6 month loan with an option to buy but it's not referenced in the teamtalk article. Where's that rumour come from?

He's no good for us IMO whether that's right or wrong I just don't believe he'd be right for us, he can be great for a team that suits him but I'd be extremely surprised if that team could ever be us.
He needs the protection from an industrious midfield to cover the defence, which would allow him to display his best attributes for whatever team he plays for.

I never said he was such a shit player but that I believe he has very big weaknesses, which I thought was quite obvious seeing him this past decade.
He'd need protecting more than any of fullback under Pep ever has been, it's obvious he'd get slaughtered in our high line on the counter.

I just think he's all wrong for us if and he could go back to Liverpool he'd be perfect for them and their needs, he could go to Serie A or the Bundesliga and dominate the league as an attacking wingback for the better teams, or for any other team who play wingbacks with grafters to cover any potential gaps at the back.

Our team as it stands lacks enough energy in the middle to cover better defensive players, our team at present would have a nightmare covering his flaws without packing that midfield.
