I always thought the 'singing sections' are a good idea but where it encourages certain aspect's to congregate this was always going to happen. Strong stewarding is needed but when you have people who when standing reply to a request with "f*ck off you c*nt" etc and turn and laugh with their mates, it's always an innocent bystander that get's caught up in it all.

The last few pages show's some bloke on the floor. *got no sound*. Someone comments he's on pills/an old man/cannot stand. Is this genuine for someone that sits in a part of the ground that stands every 5 mins or is he playing up?

Show respect for authority? It was show sec not the coppers and when they show us respect considering we pay over £500 a year for season tickets aswel as all cup schemes and costs going to the game, then we will show it back!

What's the point in reading the thread or watching the film footage with sound when you have made your mind up? It doesn't look like he is playing up when he is lying on the floor with the paramedics round him, but you probably haven't seen that.

There is a Facebook page and it appears to show and name the coward who attacked the old fella.
 
I saw this from start to finish, before any of the major agro, they singled him out walked up his row "whilst he was stood" with everyone else in 109 and pestered him to sit, he argued his case that everyone else was stood why should he sit. He refused and remained stood. The ginger woman everyone has mentioned backed off sat down and called in the troops. 3 police officers came over and about 3 showsec people they all walked over to him and tried to remove him at which point he sat and refused to move and said im sat now. They started pulling him at which point some fans got involved telling them to leave him alone. After a few pushes the rest of the showsec crew showed up with 95% of the GMP's finest trying to pull him from his chair whilst he was telling them he had heart problem. Thats when the fans got involved after about 20 mins of pushing and pulling. At which point i clearly saw 1 of them slap his face they "escorted" him towards the 110 isle. the next time i saw him was on the floor at the bottom of the 110 steps. This was showsecs fault and they were supported by the GMP noone elses. He refused to sit like everyone else got singled out then sat and was still forced to leave the lot of them were a disgrace.

Thanks, seems to confirm my fears that the fans in this section started it by not complying with the request from security. We've been through this before on previous threads, if security or police tell you do to something you do it (common sense and respect for authority). If you refuse then you pay the price.
Trouble is it drags the innocent ones such as the old man in to it, hope he is ok.
